Accounts Payable Manager

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for the review of Accounts Payable transactions to ensure timely and accurate processing. In addition to supervising, hiring, and training new AP team members, this role interfaces with internal departments and external suppliers. This position is a balance of strategic oversight and collaborative management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains internal controls and adherence to policies and procedures.
• Performs month-end closing tasks, including recording journal entries, calculating accruals, performing variance analyses, processing payroll and expense payments, and reconciling GL accounts, as needed to support the Residential team close timeline.
• Ensures newly hired Accounts Payable team members are fully trained in company policies and procedures for AP practices.
• Compiles, analyzes and reports financial information.
• Investigate Accounts Payable issues to determine root causes and provide timely follow-up to vendors and impacted team members.
• Maintains current and accurate vendor database.
• Resolves invoice/payment discrepancies; reconciles statements and negotiates vendor payment terms.
• Executes vendor payment runs and assesses tax-related processes.
• Participates in special projects as needed or directed by the Residential Accounting Manager, which may include identifying and implementing process improvements, participation in software upgrades, and supporting business growth.
• Establishes and maintains effective communication and coordination with team members, coworkers, and management.
• Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures and within all applicable laws.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or equivalent experience required.
  
• Seven plus years of Accounts Payable experience, including at least two to three years directly managing staff.
  
• Must possess a strong understanding and utilization of allocations and segmented accounting.
  
• Proven experience with improving and enforcing company budget as well as financial policies and processes.
  
• Experience in the real estate industry preferred.
  
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Yardi and/or Avid experience preferred.
  
• Able to work with a team; communicates effectively and professionally, can think critically, and problem solve.
