We are searching for an experienced Accounting Assistant for the Accounts Payable department.
Job Purpose:
Accounts Payable is the unit of the Finance Department responsible for processing payments for goods, services, and other non-salary expenses incurred by the San Jacinto College District. This includes insuring that all disbursements are accurate, process in a timely manner, and made in compliance with established policies and procedures.
This position is responsible for providing services to San Jacinto College District and the vendor which can occur a variety of issues related to assigned functions. Required to respond to questions from the district, faculty, staff, and vendors in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for accurate data entry and verification of invoices to purchase orders
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
• Reconcile vendor statements
• Document procedures and recommend changes in procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Accounts Payable function
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other district employees and the vendor using excellent customer services.
• Follow up with originating departments to resolve any discrepancies
• Be an integral team player, which involves flexibility, cooperation and communication
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Perform all duties to maintain all standards in accordance with College policies, procedures and core values.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of standard Accounts Payables policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Ability to understand and interpret vendor invoices, statements, and other requests for payment
• Knowledge of mathematics
• Knowledge of general accounting principles
• Basic data entry and/or word processing skills
• Knowledge of purchase orders and related Accounts Payable documentation
• Computer skills including software programs for communication, data collection and decision making including, but not limited to Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel
• Multi-tasking Skills
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Ability to think critically by applying problem solving practices, using technology and other resources appropriately
• Ability to communicate effectively by speaking and writing clearly, concisely, and professionally

Education and Experience
Education : High School Graduate or GED
Experience : Previous Accounts Payable experience preferred
Office Computer Skills (word processing, excel, outlook
