Job SummaryUnder general supervision and according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, this position will perform financial accounting functions. The Accountant II reports to the Assistant Controller. This position is a professional position responsible for the managing Accounts Receivable related financial reconciliations for the college. This position serves as a liaison between Accounting Services and Student Accounts.
Responsibilities- Post wire transactions and returned item transactions in Banner
- Accounts Receivable sub-module reconciliations
- Various other general ledger reconciliations
- Process year-end entries
- Marketplace storefront set-up and maintenance
- Enter transactions into People Soft financial system
- Create and track invoices for External Events, Open Records, and other Accounts Receivables items
- Daily Banner Reconciliations
- Provide Accounting support to Auxiliary units except Athletics, Parking, and Housing. Serve as the primary back-up cashier for Student Accounts as needed; other duties as assigned
- 2 Year / Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 3 or more years of accounting or finance experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3 or more years of experience with a computerized accounting system
- 5 or more years of experience in professional business office
- Experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a university, technical school, or non-profit setting
- Banner student system knowledge - Highly preferred
- People Soft experience
- Strong computer skills, especially proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge in accounting terminology.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with internal/external contacts.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
