Job description

Overview:
The Absence Coordinator Temp provides leadership and assists the department manager with the daily operations of the Absence team by coordinating and maintaining workflow, performing auditing and discrepancy resolution activities, and handling escalated issues. Provides training, coaching and guidance to HRSC team members and works closely with COE
Responsibilities:
  • Performs all tasks related to Absence, and performs those duties as required during high volume or short staffing situations
  • Collaborates effectively with COE, HRSC Management, HRSC Benefits Team and Service Desk to drive support for time off policies and Absence system functionality
  • Responds to all inquiries and escalations related to time off policies, including the calculation of complex PTO accruals
  • Shares knowledge through effective training with both Service Desk and Benefits Team support staff
  • Works closely with payroll to resolve time-sensitive issues
  • Reviews biweekly reports to proactively mitigate payroll errors
  • Participates in user acceptance testing related to changes in HRIS system
  • Provides input and guidance to staff to ensure continuous improvement
  • Effectively communicates to peers, supervisors and employees to enable consistent and timely flow of information
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in absence administration required
  • Experience in a lead position preferred
Other:
  • Ability to follow specific, detailed instructions, resolve routine to moderately complex problems and perform basic interpretation utilizing published information and tools
  • Ability to prioritize, problem solve and apply critical thinking skills
  • Apply basic policy interpretation to help develop solutions or determine appropriate escalation level
  • Demonstrated experience consistently achieving quality and productivity standards
  • Demonstrated ability to provide coaching and training in a collaborative manner
  • Ability to effectively interact with a diverse population at all levels within the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem solving, organization and prioritization skills
  • Experience with HR systems, such as HRIS, Applicant Tracking and HR Reporting (such as Business Objects)
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
  • Ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute while interacting with customers on the phone
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
