Your Role and Responsibilities

This is for a 2024 summer internship with the following start dates: May - August or June - September for quarter system schools.

Provide Project Management support to teams of program managers, business development executives, and researchers in delivering solutions to U.S. Federal customers; assist in developing the IBM Research program management processes and tools; and support proposal development for IBM Research government projects. Business management, financial management and people management skills are required.

  • Aid the Project Management team in content creation in support of program deliverables from work breakdown structures (WBS), and integrated master schedules (IMS), and metrics collection and reporting.

  • Develop and implement processes and tools in support of soliciting, prioritizing, and submitting ME Commons technology topics.

  • Provide membership management for the ME Commons NORDTECH program. Support the existing process and aid the transition to an expanded membership review and tiering as a membership agreement and IT system become available.

  • Support Advisory Committee strategic activity, to include charter development and committee to committee communications.

  • Logistical support for local Business Development Executive activities and client facing meetings.

  • Support the Business Development team in monthly financial aggregation and analysis activities.

  • Support the Proposal Development team in managing proposal schedules, peer reviews and white glove reviews.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in math, science or engineering preferred.

  • Coursework or experience in program management concepts and methods.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience in developing project schedules.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, including technical teams, executive leadership, program teams, and various client groups.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Progression towards PMP certification.

  • Microsoft Project Scheduling Skills.

Location StatementSupplemental 1 employees may be eligible for up to 8 paid holidays, minimum of 56 hours paid sick time and the IBM Employee Stock Purchase Plan. IBM offers paid family medical leave and disability benefits to eligible employees where required by applicable law. The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
