Yard Clerk / Dispatch

About the Role:

Our Yard Clerks play an integral role in supporting our customer's production line. By updating and auditing our customer's trailer management system, we ensure accurate zoning of freight and on-time delivery from supplier to plant. The role primarily works in mobile offices in various trailer yards near our customer (on-site in Hegewisch neighborhood of Chicago).

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Monitor and track loads, zone freight to the correct drop lot or dock.
• Update our customer's yard management system and internal dispatch system [data entry].
• Exchange inbound and outbound paperwork with drivers.
• Instruct drivers on delivery location of freight.
• Communicate over the radio, phone, and email with our customer, operations management, and yard management crew.
• Compile daily total of trailers in yard.
• May be required to climb in trailers to physically inspect freight.

Qualifications:

• 1-2 years experience in customer service or data entry is helpful.
• Logistics or dispatching experience preferred.
• Candidates must be able to comfortably navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
• Applicants must be comfortable working in mobile offices and in a construction like environment.
• Candidates with open schedule availability preferred.

Salary / Schedule:

12 hour shifts four days a week with a possible fifth (48 – 60 hours a week). We have overnights and split (two days / two overnights) shifts available. Weekends or a weekend day will be required. Starting pay is $17.40. Position receives medical / dental / vision benefits after 90 days, paid sick time after 120 days.
