The Yard Receiving Clerk plays a crucial role in the efficient handling and organization of incoming goods. This position involves verifying and recording incoming shipments, organizing the yard or warehouse, and ensuring that all materials are correctly stored and accounted for. This role typically operates in a warehouse or yard environment, which may involve exposure to various weather conditions, dust, and noise. The position may require standing for long periods and performing physically demanding tasks.
What You’ll Do- Receiving Shipments: Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages, and reject damaged goods
- Record Keeping: Accurately maintain records of received goods, noting discrepancies in orders, and reporting them to the relevant departments
- Storage and Organization: Ensure that received goods are appropriately stored in the yard or warehouse, following safety and organization protocols
- Inventory Management: Conduct regular inventory checks to maintain accurate stock levels and assist in inventory audits
- Coordination with Departments: Collaborate with procurement and warehouse departments to reconcile inventory discrepancies and optimize storage space
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to safety procedures and regulatory compliance related to warehouse and yard operations
- Familiarity with inventory software and data entry systems (MFS)
- Strong proficiency in common workplace software (MS Word, Excel, Visio, Access, etc.)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in a warehouse setting
