Job description

WORKERS COMPENSATION & SAFETY RESOURCE
Ensign Services, Inc. (“ESI”) is seeking a Workers Compensation and Safety Resource to support our client health care facilities in effectively managing work injury claims and to advise and educate client health care facilities on issues of employee health and safety, injury prevention, and OSHA compliance. The role is primarily performed remotely but regular presence in the field / travel is required.
About the Company
ESI currently serves over 300 health care operations including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and other ancillary service providers. These operations have no corporate headquarters or traditional management hierarchy. Instead, they operate independently with support from the “Service Center,” a world-class service team that provides centralized legal, human resource, training, accounting, IT and other resources necessary to allow on-site leaders and caregivers to focus on day-to-day care and business issues in their facilities and operations.
About the Opportunity
The Workers Compensation and Safety Resource position helps make a positive impact on the lives of front line health care workers. Our team mantra is “caring for those who care for others.” By providing our client health care facilities with the highest level of employee safety and claim management support, we hopefully allow them to focus the majority of their time caring for the residents and patients they serve.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys collaboration with a team of peers, building relationships with the operations that he or she serves and who thrives working independently on projects and goals that improve claim outcomes.
Duties
  • Oversees workers’ compensation programs and claims administration in multiple jurisdictions (by state or by market within a state)
  • Works in partnership with client facility managers in proactively managing employee injury claims and reducing workplace injuries
  • Trains client facility personnel on workers’ compensation claims and risk management programs
  • Works with brokers, third party claims administrators, and internal partners on claim administration including attending quarterly claim review meetings
  • Maintains and updates workers’ compensation risk management policies, processes, and systems
  • Educates client facilities on applicable State and Federal OSHA requirements, including recordkeeping and responding to State and Federal OSHA reportable incidents. May assist client facilities with State and Federal OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping, State and Federal OSHA incident reporting, and State and Federal OSHA inspections or investigations.
  • Establishes and maintains effective and positive relationships with client facility and market personnel to support safety efforts and programs. Regularly communicates claims management and injury prevention recommendations.
  • May conduct safety training and orientation activities associated with safety specific to the healthcare environment, including mock OSHA inspections, mock Life Safety inspections, and other such safety audits.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • At least five years’ experience managing Workers Compensation claims
  • Prior experience adjusting workers’ compensation claims, preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate both large group and individual trainings/meetings
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently
  • Intermediate level skills using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
Other Abilities:
  • A positive person who is accustomed to a fast-paced environment
  • A team player who views no task as too large or too small
