Summary/Objective
The Wastewater Technician is responsible for the safe monitoring and treating of wastewater from process operation before discharging to city plant while maintaining compliance with city and state wastewater treatment rules and regulations
Essential Functions

- Keep proper records
- Water sampling and testing as required
- Gather and submit water tests as required
- Maintain daily report
- On call as required
- Participate actively in meetings associated with modification of plant and plant equipment
- Make appropriate changes as required or recommended by plant designer and monitor
- Conduct self-inspections and audits of facility documenting results.
- Operate and maintain the overall plant
- Coordinate and participate in the maintenance of plant equipment
- Provide technical assistance to repairs being made documenting results.
- Write work orders for repair work needed
- Maintain plant in proper sanitary state
- Develop and manage repair parts for the plant
- Ensure plant equipment is functioning as designed
- Make recommendations to plant improvement
- Assist in recovery and cleanup when spills occur.
- Support the loading of sludge trucks
- Work with vendors on cost control
- Request pumps and valves that are not economically repairable
- Coordinate for area grounds keeping and vegetation control.
- Ensure exterior of the facility is maintained.
- Purchase raw materials required for the plant. (Nutrients, MagOx, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
1. Must be at least 18 years of age
2. Must have an excellent attendance and punctuality record
3. Must show initiative and pride in work
4. Have the ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
5. Must be able to work outdoors year round
6. Must be able to evaluate and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and operation problems common to the water/ wastewater systems
7. Must be able to benefit from maintenance/operational training classes
8. Must be able to meet requirements for State of Georgia Industrial Wastewater Systems Operator certification within 6 months of employment start date.
9. Good human relation skills (the ability to work well with others and be a team player).

11. Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings
12. Working knowledge of VFD’s
13. Ability to work safely with 120V and 480V systems
14. Demonstrated knowledge of 24vdc circuits and devices
15. Ability to use basic shop and hand tools
16. Knowledge of building services and control technology
Preferred Qualifications
1. Completed maintenance apprenticeship program
2. 2 years of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing environment
3. 3-5 years of experience as a maintenance technician
4. 1-2 years of experience as a waste water technician
5. Associates Degree in industrial Systems Technology or related discipline

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is occasionally exposed to wet, warm, humid and cold temperatures.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days can vary depending on production schedule.
