Job Summary:  The VP of Enterprise Solution Delivery (ESD) is an executive level role within the Information Technology division. Working closely with the CIO to establish overall strategy and vision for software engineering, technology enablement and digital value-creation for the Holt family of companies. The VP is responsible for the Enterprise Solution Delivery (ESD) function which includes the full life cycle of software product development – including business analysis, engineering, DevOps, data platforms, QA, integration, training, and support. ESD is responsible for the design, development & maintenance of a quality code base, integration layers, software currency, troubleshooting and analysis of technical issues – the overall care and maintenance of 400+ software solutions. Strong leadership, communications, and change management are required of the VP as s/he partners in the execution of HOLT’s multi-year digital business transformation initiative. The VP will have proven experience overseeing a team of engineers implementing and supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP (F&O, Supply Chain) and Salesforce (Field Service, CRM, eCommerce) solutions, in addition to support and sunsetting of legacy applications. This role includes mobile, cloud, off-prem/on-prem, AI, and agile & waterfall implementations. Also, responsible for Caterpillar IT collaboration, overseeing software budgets, software contractors and vendors. The VP of ESD leads a team of 40+ hybrid IT professionals (FTEs and contractors) and is responsible for partnership in evolving the maturity of HOLT’s IT solution factory delivering business outcomes and best practices in tech processes and solutions to the enterprise.

Education and Experience:

  • Required Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with 15+ years of progressive career growth within IT in middle or upper management, with full lifecycle solution development and integration experience; MBA or advanced education or certifications preferred.
    • Eight+ years involving direct supervisory leadership and executive partnership across multi-business-unit companies.
    • In-depth experience engineering and supporting Microsoft F&O ERP (finance & operations, supply chain) and the Salesforce ecosystem (CRM, Service, eCommerce), plus a variety of purchased and integrated software applications.
    • Strong focus on ETL, data integration, engineering and development of platforms using Microsoft tools and multiple vendor products and digital modernization.
    • Prior experience in vendor management and procurement negotiations. Also, hybrid staffing models (onsite, remote, nearshore, offshore, contractors, etc.). 

 

  • Preferred experience:

    • Moving an IT function from traditional waterfall to Agile squads.
    • Shifting from on-prem to Cloud/Azure and modernizing the tech stack.
    • Industrial Sector (heavy equipment, manufacturing, construction, oil & gas, rental, etc.) and/or Retail industry.
    • Advanced technical skills, knowledge, or certifications in Microsoft .Net framework, including but not limited to:  C#, .Net, ASP.Net, ETL, APIs, cloud, on-prem/off-prem software management & hosting, exception handling, user interface, data access, database connectivity, web application development, network communications, Jira, Microsoft DevOps/Visual Studio integrated development, SQL Server queries & joins, SharePoint, SOA, XML,  XAML, Microsoft Dynamics, Power Automate RPA, Power BI, or DBS skills.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and development; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Functions:

  • Hires, develops, evaluates, and influences effective and consistent productivity and teamwork to ensure the delivery of Legendary Customer Service (LCS).
  • Develop a workforce strategy to meet the organization’s current and future software engineering and Solution Delivery needs by:  
    • Hiring and retaining a qualified hybrid professional staff, and on-shore & off-shore contractors.
    • Build a culture that supports VBL learning, collaboration, transparency, and inclusiveness.
    • Establishing and managing performance expectations & org design.
    • Mentoring and coaching behaviors in alignment with VBL.
    • Provide rewarding career paths and ensure effective onboarding processes.
    • Driving annual enterprise results.
    • Establishing a strategic direction for the team.
    • Communicating effectively to the team.
    • Performs special projects as needed.
  • Plan and lead the development of new software products, product enhancements, and integrations focused on D365 ERP and Salesforce as Holt’s primary targeted platforms. Evaluate technical feasibility, design optimization, and production issues of over 400+ existing software applications. Work to solve the problems articulated by product management or other teams and ensure that resulting software products meet the organization's standards of quality and performance. Lead the development of software product plans and schedules, sunsetting of legacy applications. Ensure on-time delivery of all scheduled milestones and product requirements. Delegate work to the software engineering and agile teams. Remain current on changes regarding software technology.
  • In partnership with other IT executive colleagues (Enterprise Architecture, EPMO, Infrastructure & Operations, and Security), continue to mature our IT Solution Factory and agile squads through continuous delivery and discipline refinement. Deliver ITIL metrics, financial budget creation & tracking, code quality, license management, asset libraries, and data storage efficiency.
  • May serve as project sponsor and change leader on enterprise-wide application rollouts or shifts in process within IT, influencing and partnering with HOLT business operational leaders to drive change forward.
  • Ensures all software solutions and processes are PCI compliant and maintained ongoing, with upgrades/releases every 12-18mos; Minimizes & reduces tech debt where possible.
  • Oversees RTB (Run-the-business) project efforts involving work plans, schedules, project estimates, sprint plans, resource plans, agile velocity, and status reports within predefined SLAs, or time/budget/scope. Develops and maintains data warehouses, data marts, data analytics tools, and an overall data platform strategy to support our data-decision-making organization and BI.
  • Demonstrates competency in multiple IT disciplines (DevOps, Agile, Waterfall, SDLC, ITIL, etc.) Champion best practices in modern software development methods, tools, workflow automation, and AI.
  • Ensures business value realization and optimization, through delivering new capabilities, managing expectations, and identifying opportunities to add value; Leverages new innovation to increase organizational effectiveness and customer satisfaction by knowing your customer. Building relationships and understanding the industrial sector business.
  • Motivates team members and stakeholders to complete tasks on time and with high quality and creativity, building end-to-end great experiences for our customers.
  • Identifies and anticipates risks and issues; facilitates resolution, mitigation, and appropriate escalation. Ensures software and data quality and security, and resilience through cybersecurity protocols.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive software solution documentation in LeanIX and Azure DevOps.
  • Works with onshore/offshore vendor partners, contractors, and consultants.
  • Builds relationships and partnerships with business colleagues to develop strategic business goals for the upcoming years. Develops, communicates, and reports on project progress and portfolios to stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Educates business partners and other areas of the company about IT, existing software solutions, our transformation journey, and drives enterprise-wide guidelines & best practice processes.
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in engineering and code development and integration, data architecture & management, work structuring and planning (using tools such as ITSM, Azure DevOps, JIRA, MS Project, Smartsheet, QA Automation, Copado, LeanIX, Power apps, Salesforce, D365 F&O, .NET framework, C#, SQL, python, data management and tools, etc.).
  • Ability to focus on business value outcomes, rather than just delivering solutions.
  • High EQ and strong values-alignment. Excellent self-awareness, interpersonal skills, ability to manage stakeholders and deliver value for the end-customers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of SDLC, Agile, Waterfall, DevOps, ITIL methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication, and presentation and influencing skills; develops companywide communications, requests for proposals, and department and project status reports.
  • Ability to manage numerous complex initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a thirst for learning and staying up-to-speed in technologies.
  • Ability to influence management level peers and enterprise-wide stakeholders.
  • Ability to partner, build relationships, and liaise between IT colleagues and business stakeholders to ensure collaboration and coordination.
  • Ability to monitor and communicate status to senior leadership.

Travel:

  • Up to 15% and overnight travel may be expected.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
