Position Title: Visitor Service Associate

Reports to: Vice President of Administration / CFO and Visitor Services Supervisor

SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to provide high quality customer service and a wide variety of information to Bowers Museum guests and staff, while facilitating ticket sales for museum admission, programs, special events, and membership. As the initial point of contact with museum patrons, the Visitor Service Associate is expected to be prepared to answer a multitude of questions ranging from information about museum fees, membership, exhibitions and programs to ensure that all visitors have a memorable and exemplary experience while visiting the museum.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Greet and provide information to patrons on all museum programs and services with enthusiasm and sincerity
- Facilitate the sale of museum admission, public programs and special event tickets, museum memberships and promotions
- Answer phone calls, assist callers with inquiries regarding museum programs and offerings, refer and forward calls to appropriate museum staff
- Replenish museum promotional literature
- Issue, collect and store audio tour headsets, as needed
- Operate computer based register; handle credit card and cash transactions
- Generate closing reports and balance cash transactions
- Track and report daily museum attendance
- Facilitate visitor surveys
- Other duties as assigned
- Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, IIPP, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma; plus one year experience in a customer service or retail position; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A.A. or B.A. in Communications, Marketing, Anthropology, Art History or related area preferred.
