The Office of the District Attorney has immediate vacancies for Victim Advocate.

The incumbent will provide a variety of mandatory and optional services in assisting victims of violent crimes by ensuring their physical, emotional, and financial injuries are timely addressed allowing for a faster and more complete recovery from the effect of crime. Some of the services this position will provide include immediate crisis intervention, community referrals for mental health therapy, funeral and burial assistance, case status information, court accompaniment, restitution, restraining orders, crime prevention and community outreach including presentations.

Required education and experience:

An Associate's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency AND one (1) year of full-time experience in a field related to outreach victim services, community programs/projects, or criminal justice work.

Note: Relevant experience in a field related to outreach victim services, community programs/projects, or criminal justice work may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for year-basis.
A copy of your Associate's degree/transcripts MUST be submitted in order to apply for this position. If these documents have been previously submitted, please do not do so again.
In addition, the department desires candidates that can communicate effectively, are knowledge workers, hold self and others accountable, problem solvers and innovative, demonstrate ethical behavior, leverage resources (coaches and develops), drive to excel, maximize team effectiveness, and are supportive of change.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position.


EVALUATION

The names of qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and supplemental questionnaire.
