Summary
Under general supervision of the Utilities CS Billing Supervisor, the position is responsible for processing the residential and commercial utility charges.
General Purpose
The purpose of this position is to process residential and commercial bills and communicate with customers any anomalies and provide exceptional customer service at all times. The incumbent will analyze, validate, and process utility consumption to permit the successful execution of required billing methods. This incumbent must adhere to the provision of monthly billing parameters, as it is imperative that the billing process stay on schedule.
Essential Functions
- Maintains and supports a positive, collaborative culture within the City organization as a whole, fully embracing the cultural and values statements espoused by the City.
- Sets up all required new accounts, prepares, and processes Utility Billing for customers.
- Prepares and processes utilities billing on a rotating monthly schedule.
- Analyzes energy and water consumption and billing for commercial accounts/residential customers; provides load profile data and graphic analysis, as needed; assists key customers in understanding water and electric usage patterns, peak demand impacts.
- Coordinates city and utilities resources for investigating, resolving and responding to commercial/residential customer service issues concerning rates, billing, metering, power and water quality and reliability, facility expansion and modifications.
- Assists in managing credit and collections for commercial rate customers.
- Establishes and maintains effective business relationships with major account customer personnel; maintain regular customer account schedules.
- Develops and maintains customer account profiles, and knowledge of customer's business operations, industries, markets and business strategies.
- Participates as customer liaison in facility assessments requiring on-site customer facility assessments in partnership with engineers.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with citizens and co-workers.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- May act as a customer service backup in the department.
- Assist with completing non-pay service orders.
- Performs other duties and special projects as requested by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Requires an Associate’s Degree or the equivalent work experience or specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of two year of college in accounting, business, or closely related field.
- Requires two years’ experience in Utility Billing, invoice analysis or closely related experience.
Certificate or licenses:
- Requires a valid Colorado driver’s license.
Other Requirements
- Working knowledge of accounting and business machines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Able to obtain the following ICS Certifications: IS100 & 700.
Tools and Equipment Used
Handles or uses computers or work aids involving moderate latitude for judgment regarding attainment of a standard or in selecting appropriate items.
Physical Demands
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
