This position is responsible for testing, installing, calibrating, maintaining, and documenting all-natural gas, potable water, and reclaim/irrigation water metering to ensure accurate revenue-grade metering recovery to each utility department with a combined total of $17+ million annually.
Responsibilities:
  • Repair, replace, and install potable water and wastewater and reclaim water metering and associated registers, correctors, and sensors.
  • Manage all calibration and testing of metering systems.
  • Coordinate all outages and assist contractors in repairing and replacing lines or hardware necessary to reinstall, pressurize, test, and validate natural gas, potable, reclaim, and sewer-metered services.
  • Responsible for selecting and sizing meters based on service configuration requirements and application.
  • Perform general maintenance such as painting, priming, sanding, support installation, and securing assets.
  • Assist with electric, chilled, and hot water meters, including development, troubleshooting, setup, measurement, and programming assistance.
  • Manage setup and programming of all amplifiers, correctors, and other metering components to department standards for revenue grade billing.
  • Assist with programming and local data collection of stored load data or other diagnostics from amplifiers, correctors, or other devices.
  • Manage ongoing detailed data collection of metering and transmitter information to ensure accuracy for billing, including, but not limited to, field verification and validation of what areas, equipment, or assets are served by specific meters as well as determination of meter type (Parent/Master/Submeter/Virtual).
  • Perform annual flow meter testing of all potable water and wastewater meters and associated certificate collection and documentation.
  • Review and analyze historical monthly and hourly data to preventively assess and correct metering errors and failures.
  • Assist with all phases of meter reading and billing.
  • Assist with the technical work or troubleshooting of fixed network and smart grid system hardware.
  • Maintain Meter Worksheets, Inventory, GIS-based images, information, calibration sheets, test results, and contractor work, results, and documentation.
  • Maintain stock of manuals, specification sheets, and other relevant manufacturer details.
  • Interpret and prepare reports, inspections, and pertinent documentation.
  • Interpret engineered drawings for field application and identification related to service metering and distribution.
  • Assist project work for review of proper meter placement and application, as well as reading blueprints and working closely with other departments to complete new or replacement meter work per manufacturer standards.
  • Ensure all Meter Worksheets are completed accurately at the point of interconnection and energizing/pressurizing.
  • Review historical blueprints to ensure metering captures proper energy usage for buildings, individual spaces, or sites, validating that all consumption is metered accurately without losing our double billing/metering.
  • Validate that all metering installed or replaced meets departmental standards.
  • Manage ongoing development of natural gas, potable, reclaim, and sewer meter Preventative Maintenance program to ensure high accuracy revenue-grade utility metering and utilize benchmarking and interval data from CIS, BAS, and OEIS to detect patterns of potential meter or site-related issues affecting measurement.
