The Traction System Engineer defines the architecture, the functionalities of the traction drives or auxiliary converter systems, and technically leads the engineering studies in order to reach performances in compliance with initial requirements.
Investigate Traction Issues, then interface with the responsible design engineers.
The first assignment will include significant travel (estimated at least 50%).
Future assignments will include travel, but at a lower percentage (estimated at 15%).
Responsibilities
- Collects external (customer, standards) and internal (rolling stock) requirements, allocates them to the technical teams.
- Defines the architecture and functionalities of the traction drive or auxiliary converter system, taking as input the external requirements as well as internal ones
- Allocates – while optimizing the cost - the transverse requirements (EMC, acoustics, reliability, safety, weight, …) to the various traction or auxiliary functions, in close collaboration with experts and RAMS engineers
- Ensures consistency and compatibility between all traction or auxiliary functions specifications by verifying every FRS and every component specification and by participating to all design reviews
- Organizes, prepares and leads the system design review
- Builds the Product Breakdown Structure
- Defines together with the validation team the traction or auxiliary validation strategy
- Defines and participates in the commissioning (fine tuning), and manage it together with the validation manager
- Identifies the technical risks
- Supports the traction or auxiliary PrEM for implementation or update of the technical part of the risk mitigation plan
- Ensures that the constructional & functional traction or auxiliary configuration is compliant with requirements (verification)
- Participates in technical meetings with customer in order to provide support to the Sub-System Manager and / or PrEM
- Supports the traction or auxiliary PrEM by proposing QCD improvements
- Analyses technical issues and proposes solutions during the commissioning and the reliability growth phase
- Provides Return of Experience to be implemented in Reference Solutions. Contributes to the RoE committee and documentation update
Required Qualifications:
- An experience of 5+ years in Traction Engineering
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is Required
