Description:TDI Technologies, Inc. (TDI) is seeking candidates for a Technical Writer position. This position will require working alongside other TDI employees, US Navy engineers, other contractors, and end users in order to support documentation and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) of the design, implementation, and sustainment of US Navy shipboard network designs for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) applications. This position will involve collaboration with the Naval Sea Systems Command, TDI’s primary customer for this contract, other contractors such as the original equipment manufacturers and ship design and integrators, and test and certification personnel in the field. Tasking will include managing specifications, procedures, drawings and schematics, parts lists, models and configurations, obsolesce information regarding parts, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting guides among other requirements for the program. The candidate must be comfortable working with electrical, computer, and mechanical systems.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
- Produce high-quality technical documents, including user manuals, technical guides, specifications, and procedures that are accurate, clear, and easy to understand.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and technical teams to gather necessary information, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of technical content.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to established standards, style guides, and templates, maintaining consistency and branding throughout.
- Review and edit technical documents for clarity, grammar, and formatting. Verify accuracy and consistency of content.
- Manage and maintain version control of documents to ensure that the most current information is readily available to users.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and designers, to ensure documentation meets project requirements and deadlines.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer by documenting best practices, procedures, and lessons learned, contributing to organizational learning and improvement.
- Ensure that technical documentation is accessible and user-friendly, catering to a diverse audience, including non-technical stakeholders.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging technologies to continuously improve the quality and effectiveness of technical documentation.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with documentation editing and form software
- Familiarity with network and computer systems, basic understanding of operating systems, software applications, computer networks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to create training materials

Requirements:Education and Experience Requirements:
- 3 or more years of experience as a Technical Writer for defense, maritime, or computer based systems
- Computer network and/or software experience strongly preferred
- Experience in US Navy or maritime systems is preferred
- Training or coursework in an engineering discipline is preferred
