Technical Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a Specifications Writer on behalf of our client, a regionally based architecture and engineering consultant. The Specifications Writer collaborates with Design Teams to produce coordinated technical and Divisions 00 and 01 specifications and documents for projects and assists in assuring these requirements are fulfilled in construction phase of projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop technical and Divisions 00 and 01 specifications for projects by collaborating with project teams,
- Client and consultants for design, permitting, and bidding submissions;
- Manage company-wide technical product information/standards to maintain consistency across projects at the firm;
- Make recommendations regarding and update and maintain company specification software(s);
- Work with design professionals to establish standard client and project-specific standard specifications where feasible;
- Research products and materials, industry trends and standards and update the firm with resulting impacts/updates to specifications;
- Support construction contract administration activities in review of product data and material submittals to confirm contract compliance during construction;
- Provide support in the development of team members by knowledge sharing and training in specification writing and content; and
- Other tasks as assigned.
Position Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in specification writing in A/E/C projects.
- CSI certification required. Additional certifications of CSI CDT, CCS and/or CCCA, and LEED AP BD + C are highly desired.
- Ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously and the ability to effectively communicate and coordinate specification work with colleagues and clients across disciplines at various design phases and levels of development.
- Understanding of the selection and integration of building systems and materials with design work to meet code, project and owner requirements.
- Understanding of various project delivery methods and impact on technical and front-end specification requirements with priority understanding of public project delivery, bidding, contract, and construction procedures.
- Research and apply knowledge of industry and product standards to incorporate into construction requirements.
- Focus on consistency and quality control of company's specification work product.
- Ability to manage, utilize and implement use of various industry specification software.
