Technical Support - Therapeutics Discovery

 

***This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a   Public Trust clearance to be considered. ***

 

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen.

 

The position will offer laboratory assistance for MBD research, operating in a BSL-2 environment. Responsibilities include supporting basic and applied research on emerging threats, aiding in scientific studies, and performing tasks such as basic cell culture, 3D bioprinting, stem cell maturation, spheroid/organoid development, PCR, high-throughput screening assays, and high-throughput sequencing on infectious agents. Additional duties may involve animal procedures, data analysis, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Technical Support - Therapeutics Discovery: $60,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Technical Support - Therapeutics Discovery Responsibilities Include: 

  • Assist in planning, executing, and evaluating high-throughput screening projects for antibacterial, antiviral, and antitoxin therapeutic areas, including the development of novel assays/methods.
  • Conduct in vitro and in vivo microbiological experiments, utilizing techniques like enzymatic assays, cell-based assays, Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) assays, and plaque assays.
  • Support BSL-2 mouse studies, including animal inoculations, specimen collection, and analysis using immunological procedures like ELISA and Western blot.
  • Prepare technical reports, SOPs, and manuscripts, and present research findings at scientific conferences, with possible CONUS travel.
  • Assess and maintain BSL-2 laboratory supplies, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidance and coordinating supply orders with Division resources.
  • Perform operations and training in animal manipulations for BSL-2 animal studies, handling bacterial and viral pathogens for in vitro and in vivo studies.
  • Provide monthly Research Technical Reports and communicate unexpected data/results or task-related issues to the Lead/PI or TPOC.
  • Maintain an orderly laboratory environment, coordinate supply orders, and assist in training new personnel.
  • Participate in regular laboratory decontamination, cleaning, and maintenance of instruments and equipment.
  • Document sample processing, protocol design, and data management, ensuring compliance with current CGS and Institutional requirements. Cross-train and provide Technical Support to other areas within MBD as needed. Present research findings at monthly lab meetings and attend scientific discussions weekly.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Technical Support - Therapeutics Discovery Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Proficient in high-throughput screening techniques for antibacterial, antiviral, and antitoxin therapeutic areas.
  • Expertise in basic cell culture, stem cell maturation, 3D bioprinting, and spheroid/organoid development.
  • Strong capabilities in screening molecular compound libraries for therapeutic efficacy.
  • Proficient in in vitro assays, including enzymatic assays, cell-based phenotypic and reporter assays, MIC, and plaque assays.
  • Advanced skills in molecular biology techniques such as gene cloning, gel electrophoresis, Western blots, and transcriptomics.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
