Responsibilities

The Rice Lab is seeking a Research Technician to conduct research in cellular and molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease and normal brain function using mouse models.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing mouse colony (updating strain database, setting up breeders, and genotyping by PCR)
  • Euthanizing mice and dissecting brain tissue
  • Sectioning, immunostaining, and imaging brain tissue
  • Participating in lab and departmental meetings
Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree typically in one of the biological sciences and/or equivalent years of relevant laboratory experience.- Willingness to handle laboratory mice.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience with handling laboratory mice.- Interest in neurobiology or Alzheimer's disease research.- Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.- Highly organized and meticulous to ensure accuracy of data collection and recording.- Willingness to learn new techniques and initiative to solve problems.- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Work Hours

Typically Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
