Title: Technical Support Engineer 5(With OTDR or Optical Fiber Experience)
Location: Must be located in Virginia/Maryland area (30 mi radius from IAD). May be traveling around during the position (some months may be up to 90%, others 50%)
Duration: 10+ Months with Possibility to Extend/Convert
Pay Rate Range: $41.53/hr. on W-2.

When not in the field they can work remotely from home. Will be traveling across the United States with testing kit.IT candidates that are working from an office are not the best fit. Contractor will be working on optical fiber sites doing troubleshooting. OTDR or Optical Fiber experience is a must. Candidate must work on our W2. no third-party candidates. ***
Job Description:
The main function of the Technical Support Engineer is to provide Technical Support to customer technicians, who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, debugging and maintaining products.
Job Responsibilities:
" Report design, reliability, and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineers/software engineering.
" Assist with customer installation and training.
" Provide support to customer/users where the product is highly technical or sophisticated in nature.
" Apply company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.
Must Haves:
" Experience with OTDR testing.
" Familiar with ISP and OSP network infrastructure- Inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP).
" Quick learner and positive work attitude.
" Understanding network documentation and testing techniques.
" Good communication skills.
Nice to Have:
" Least wave testing/ BERT testing.
" Can hit the ground running, or able to ramp quickly.
" Relevant certifications a plus, not required
" Experience working with desktop software programs (MS Suite, Excel, Word ,Visio)
Required Skills:
" Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
" Basic ability to work independently and manage one's time.
" Basic knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software.
" Knowledge of computer software, such as configuration management software, desktop communications software, operating system software and internet directory services software.
Education Experience:
" 5+ years experience required.
" Degree preferred but not required
