Responsibilities for Tax Preparer

• ******Must have the ability to obtain your own clients ******
• THIS IS A COMMISION BASED POSITION!!!!!

Attend continuing education courses to remain aware of changes to forms and new standards for completing tax paperwork

Create invoices and requests payment for services rendered based upon the level of difficulty and time spent preparing the forms

Verify tax forms completed by clients to ensure their proper submission

Properly research and seek the advice of senior preparers when confronted with particularly challenging tax circumstances

Gather appropriate materials regarding yearly tax tables, instructions and forms to accurately calculate taxes for clients

Inform clients of important paperwork and documentation needed to complete tax forms properly

Work closely with clients to obtain personal information regarding potential deductions, educational grants or allowances

Meet with clients and address their questions and concerns regarding tax forms and paperwork

Qualifications for Tax Preparer

Certification from the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) is strongly preferred

High school or GED is essential, college-level courses in accounting preferred

Professional experience working with confidential and sensitive information

Knowledge of state and federal tax form processes and how to accurately properly prepare forms for each

Experience ordering proper tax forms and instruction booklets

Ability to prioritize daily tasks and meet timely obligations with many clients

Knowledge of accounting processes and advanced mathematical skills

Skilled using tax preparation software and experience in troubleshooting common tax program problems

Experience consulting tax handbooks or other printed materials to determine the proper procedure for preparing challenging returns

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $5,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
