We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Preparer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of tax laws and regulations, as well as experience in preparing complex tax returns. The Senior Tax Preparer will be responsible for providing accurate and timely tax advice to clients, managing the preparation of tax returns, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Position Summary
The Senior Tax advisor is responsible for conducting tax interviews and for preparing all entity types of tax returns, including 1120, 1120-S, 1065, Estate and Non-Profit tax returns, as well as more advanced individual returns that include Sch C and Sch E, so clients pay the least possible tax as prescribed by tax law. The Senior Tax advisor answers tax questions and offers advice, as qualified, to assist clients. Senior tax advisors are expected to develop trusted relationships with their client base so that their client’s holistic financial picture is understood, and they are able to offer or refer the wealth management services. This position will also assist in performing senior reviews of returns prepared by other advisors.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:Associates degree or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bi-Lingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
Mathematical Ability:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Internet Explorer).
Certificates and Licenses: Internal Revenue Service Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN). CPA, or CPA candidate or IRS Enrolled Agent or Candidate preferred.
What you will achieve: (Expectations)
Tax Preparation
· Conduct tax interviews for individuals, corporations, partnerships, exempt organizations, fiduciaries, and estates.
· Finalize the above mentioned tax returns and resolve any electronic filing issues prior to, during and after electronic transmission.
· Answer client questions.
· Assist clients in responding to Internal Revenue Service correspondence.
Training
· Continuously update knowledge of tax laws and the implications for clientele.
· Serve as the knowledgeable resource to all tax advisors in the firm.
Special Projects and Assignments
· Back office support as required.
· Special Projects as assigned.
Continuing Education
· Participate in annual tax education event (i.e. CSEA Super Seminar) as directed.
· Actively seek updated tax knowledge as required (i.e. www.IRS.gov, local seminars, Quick Finders).
· Maintain required Continuing Education Credits for credentials (i.e. EA) as appropriate.
Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with the client base and fellow employees. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to maintain personal workflow within the firm’s established systems and meet deadlines. Must possess the ability to learn and progress in the above listed essential job functions.
Additional Information
Tax Season: Each year the tax season is different depending on where the first of February falls in the week and what day of the week April 15th falls. The tax season will include at least 12 hours a day five days a week and 5 hours on Saturday and any additional hours necessary to fulfill job requirements. The specifics of the hourly requirements will be addressed each year no later than January 15th.
Off-Tax Season: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Wednesday
8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday
8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Friday
Tax Season: 8:00am-8:00pm Monday-Friday
9:00am-2:00pm Saturdays
Tax season hours can vary depending on when the filing windows open and how quickly clients get information into us. We have found that it generally starts off slower and gets busier as the season goes on.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
