This opportunity is on an established team at a federal agency to support the creation, organization, transformation, management, dissemination, and delivery of curated, consumer-focused health information. This role will provide expertise and innovation in engaging intended audiences with health information and resources across digital channels to improve its use, understanding, and delivery.
This role includes reviewing and updating content, including identifying new content for the site, providing recommendations for layout and organization of websites, organizing and disseminating curated content, working with SMEs and stakeholders, and implementing content strategies in collaboration with specialists in SEO, UX, and communications.
The ideal candidate is a trained librarian or similarly skilled information specialist with subject matter expertise in public health. Strong knowledge of medical and public health content is needed.
Location: Remote with possible travel to Washington D.C.
This is a part-time position, working 20 - 21 hours per week.
Requirements:Responsibilities:
- Assist with content management for the site, including reviewing and updating links, synonymy, references, and metadata, using established procedures and checklists. Identify new content for the site. Help test and suggest improvements to existing review procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assist in testing website and system changes, accessibility monitoring, writing user requirements and test plans, and special projects that assist with the management and maintenance of the project and associated pages and services.
- Assist in research projects pertaining to technical and content support for the site.
- Support data initiatives. This may include benchmarking, working on metadata efforts, monitoring the Google Analytics account, and assisting in collecting and analyzing metrics.
- Assist in evaluation studies for the improvement of the site. These evaluations may involve web statistics, surveys, or feedback from a variety of customers or outside organizations. The summary report of an assigned evaluation will vary from a brief email summary to a detailed written report.
Qualifications:
- Librarianship preferred; for example, a master’s degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association. Equivalent experience is also acceptable.
- Require at least one year of experience in understanding, organizing, and supporting the implementation of Section 508 or WCAG 2.0 standards.
- Requires at least one year of experience in analytics (e.g. Google Analytics), general website management and maintenance (e.g. checking and updating links, reviewing meta data), and supporting website content.
- Demonstrated experience with assistive technology (screen readers, accessibility validation tools).
- Experience with commonly used devices and platforms for accessibility testing, including Apple, Android, and Windows.
- Must have understanding and familiarity of web coding standards (W3C)
