- Abides by the College's mission, vision, values, and purposes.
- Directs library operations, including collection development, maintaining library policies and procedures, and tracking and maintaining vendor contracts.
- Manages the library budget.
- Promotes efficient cost-effective service.
- Mentors and supervises library staff, including completing employee evaluations and resolving conflicts.
- Performs literature searches upon request.
- Assists library customers with their needs.
- Instructs students and faculty on proper use of library materials and resources.
- Consults with faculty to determine library resources and service needs to support academic programs.
- Maintains library related information on learning management system and intranet platforms, including creating and maintaining Library Instruction research guides (Libguides)
- Disseminates library resources.
- Fulfills the essential responsibilities of staff role within the team.
- Participates in the College wide efforts related to continuous quality improvement.
- Maintains professional confidentiality.
- Promotes effective and positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Assists with a variety of projects as delegated or as appropriate to the position. 17. Serves as a member of college committees.
- Education - Licensures: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field. A master's degree in Library/Information Science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program is preferred.
- Experience: Two years of experience in primary discipline is required.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with medical, nursing, and allied health resources is preferred
- Abilities and Characteristics:
- Self-starter with ability to work responsibly on both an independent and team player basis.
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer service ethic including a friendly and helpful attitude.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Organized and attentive to accuracy and detail. Ability to multi-task, manage several tasks and projects, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and demonstrate flexibility and initiative.
