LAC Federal is seeking an experienced Collection Services Librarianto support a project with a prestigious federal library in Bethesda, Maryland. The Collection Services Librarian will supervise a team of Library Technicians in the performance of tasks related to collections maintenance for a large federal library. These tasks will include retrieval and shelving, new acquisitions processing, collection shifting, inventory management, ILS Catalog Maintenance and other related collections maintenance duties.
Responsibilities:
- Train, supervise and monitor the performance of technicians performing collections maintenance duties
- Plan, direct, and monitor projects and activities including:
- Major collection shifting and integration
- Rehousing, stabilization, and basic conservation of non-rare library materials
- New acquisitions processing
- Inventory tracking and maintenance
- ILS Catalog record miantenance
- Maintain and report statistics and data for the PM and Government
- Identify areas of workflow improvements and new efficiencies
- Support the Project Manager on special projects
Requirements
- MLS from an ALA-accredited institution
- Experience creating written instruction and verbal training for paraprofessional library staff
- Experience evaluating and providing feedback to library staff
- At least one year of recent experience interpreting bibliographic data elements and updating bibliographic, holdings, and items records using an integrated library system (ILS).
- Experience with Ex Libris Alma strongly preferred
- Experience in a science or health library preferred
- Two years experience performing and overseeing collection maintenance tasks
- Experience keeping records, metrics and qualitative data on tasks completed
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to pass a background check
