Salary Information $60,000.00 Department Summary
The Gibson D. Lewis Health Science Library supports the education, research, patient care, and community service missions of the University of North Texas Health Science Center ( HSC) by meeting the information needs of faculty, students, staff, and the local health sciences community.
In addition, Lewis Library oversees the John S. Marietta Library for JPS Health Network. For JPS, Lewis Librarians offer support in clinical rounding, education, research, and resource support including management of a library website providing access to JPS clinicians and
employees 24/7.
Position Overview
Primarily responsible for identifying and cultivating clinical information partnerships and education opportunities to support patient care within JPS and JPS Health Network affiliated sites & clinics throughout Tarrant County; facilitating access to health information by developing educational programming and responding to requests for information, services, and resources; developing, coordinating, and evaluating library programs for JPS Health Network clinicians, staff, and administrators.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in library or information science and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work successfully in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Health information programming or community health education experience
  • Strong service orientation and ability to work effectively with colleagues, health professionals and consumers in a diverse, multi-cultural community
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
  • One year minimum experience providing mediated search services in a clinical or academic health sciences setting.
  • Experience managing research content, communications, and marketing/promotion of library services.
  • One year minimum experience providing library or classroom instruction.

Required License / Registration / Certification Work Schedule
M-F 7:30 am - 4:30 pm; Flexible/Hybrid schedule available

Job Duties

o
Participate in clinical point of care collaboration opportunities as needed.
o
Identify and cultivate clinical information partnerships and education opportunities to support patient care within JPS and JPS Health Network affiliated sites & clinics throughout Tarrant County.
o
Travel on occasion to provide research support to JPS Health Network clinicians, staff, and administrators distributed across the JPS Health Network affiliated sites throughout Tarrant County.
o
Foster an environment of research independence by conceptualizing, creating, and providing high-quality educational opportunities through didactic instruction and the design and creation of user-friendly research support tools for all JPS Health Network employees.
o
Assist with gathering and reporting statistical data as needed.
o
Assist with literature searches, interlibrary loan, and DOCLINE requests as needed.
o
Assist with troubleshooting authentication/connectivity and management of electronic resources as needed.
o
Participate in JPS Library team analysis of research tools and e-resources to enhance online library collections and service delivery.
o
Promote JPS Library services to all employees and affiliated users.
o
Serve on library and departmental committees, councils, and/or task forces as needed.
o
Utilize library software, information resources, databases, and advanced design tools to enhance user experience, job performance, and product output.
