This position works within Research with the goal of management of applications and information systems for research at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare. Research Systems Administrator has significant responsibility and works at an independent level to provide support for the Research department and organization. Under the direction of Research Leadership to support Research strategy, will oversee Research Departmental information system needs, ensuring appropriate implementation, access, organizational collaborative interactions, and engagement following departmental and institutional policies and regulatory guidelines. Participates and leads projects and initiatives to promote integrated systems, process improvement, and data collection and reporting to enhance creativity, scientific rigor & facilitate efficiency, and productivity. Serve as a REDCap administrator for the organization. May provide additional administrative support to role as needed.
1.0 FTE (40 hrs/wk); Monday - Friday, business hours. Some weekends may be required (3-5 per year). Work locations include 490 Mississippi Building (office, primary location), 200 University (secondary location), and outlying clinics, depending on Research Department needs. This is a primarily onsite position, however there will be opportunities to work remotely. The selected candidate must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin and have the ability to work onsite in St. Paul, MN several times per week. Relocation to the area is expected for out-of-state applicants.
Compensation & Benefits
The hourly wage for this opportunity is $32.28/hour to $48.41/hour, with a median wage of $40.35/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay just one part of the compensation package for employees. Primary Job Responsibilities
- Works in collaboration with Research leadership to champion efforts to advance informatics system implementation and management that support research efforts and initiatives.
- Serves as liaison between Information Systems (IS) team, business stakeholders, and end-users to integrate research systems and data with Gillette-wide systems and programs (e.g., Cerner, Electronic Data Warehouse, Research Portal, and clinical trial management systems)
- Collaborates with internal and external clinicians and staff to document, analyze, and translate their needs into technical designs and informatics solutions
- Establishes a system of applications and tools to record, organize, store, secure and access research data
- Coordinates department implementation and usage of ad hoc systems, including development of related guidelines, training programs and resources
- Designs databases and data collection tools based on study protocols (e.g., case report forms, REDCap collection forms etc.).
- Manages initial data collection and testing phases, as appropriate. Evaluates data quality and suggests approaches for data processing and cleaning to ensure data completeness and accuracy
- Maintains Research applications and systems, including data setup, problem and data integrity resolution, regular review and renewals, workflow design, and software upgrades
- Provides IS expertise pertaining to data collection and validation
- Manages data related projects in support of ad-hoc and standing departmental requests
- Collaborates with others to solve complex problems, developing new processes and methods to meet the everchanging research informatics and data needs of researchers
- Develops and expands on mechanisms for visibility and regulatory compliance within Research
- Provides project management and support for collaborative work and major improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, a healthcare related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience related to healthcare processes and technologies, clinical research, or analytics
Preferred
- Master’s degree in science, informatics or related medical field
- Experience of healthcare domain knowledge and familiarity with healthcare standards and terminologies
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple ongoing responsibilities
- Ability to clearly articulate issues and risks as well as ideas and solutions
- Consistently displays a high degree of initiative, dedication, and innovation
- Ability to attend out-of-state meetings, as needed
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent customer service skills and a positive, encouraging attitude
- Experience utilizing advanced data management software
- Experience utilizing Microsoft SharePoint
- Familiarity with Institutional Review Board (IRB) process and compliance rules pertaining to research
