Job description

As a member of the Imaging Systems Team, the Imaging System Administrator provides PACS support throughout Gillette (including Gillette applications and 3rd party applications), in conjunction with the Information Systems Department. Provides expertise specific to the clinical aspects of imaging, imaging workflow and provider preference for all systems related to Imaging. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm with weekly/weekend rotational call. The individual will primarily work out of our St. Paul (main campus) with some metro site specific work as well as rotational remote work.

Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient’s condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams.

Compensation & Benefits

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $38.11/hour to $57.18/hour, with a median wage of $47.65/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees. Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Implements changes, fixes, upgrades, enhancements and performs maintenance to imaging information systems, hospital information systems and interfaces.
  • Identifies and/or investigates the potential impact on users, workflow, and existing systems as new interfaces/upgrades/systems are considered or implemented.
  • Project Management: Schedules, performs, and documents system maintenance, upgrades, testing in an independent and integrated environment.
  • User calls and system issues will be logged, monitored, and triaged as needed within the Imaging Systems Team.
  • Demonstrates strong Project Management skills.
  • Demonstrates advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of the software development cycle, relational databases, and client-server concepts.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows Products.
  • Resolves system problems at all sites; coordinates external service providers and vendors to resolve issues regarding system integrity, responsiveness, errors or service.
  • Prevents or reduces unscheduled downtime. Works with the vendor and IS department as needed to address issues impacting system downtime.  Establish downtime and backup processes for image acquisition and display.  Assess equipment functionality at all sites including hardware & software, with priority given to high volume providers, busy clinics, urgent use (surgery).
  • Establishes metrics, collects, and audits data (i.e., user calls, equipment failures, etc.) with sufficient specificity and depth to assist in troubleshooting, problem identification and resolution, redundancy, training, identification of trends, process improvement, and system modifications or enhancements.
  • Creates reports as needed, and to consistently capture data to support metrics and data needs.
  • Ensures image and report availability for exams performed by Gillette’s Imaging Department and outside facilities.
  • Serves as a liaison between Imaging and other departments related to imaging information and Imaging Systems.
  • Works with end users to address product enhancements, toolsets, hanging protocols, logon issues and training needs.
  • Establishes open communication with medical staff and imaging staff that results in a clear understanding of expectations, issues, and ideas conducive to providing quality services.
  • Develops, implements, maintains documentation, and evaluates training for users in all locations. Evaluates the effectiveness of training
  • Uses Service desk ticket tracking system for daily monitoring of outstanding tickets, the PACS team queue, and troubleshooting and maintenance of systems.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Associates degree in radiologic technology, information technology, or other healthcare related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Three years of experience in Imaging with a working knowledge of department workflow and operations, and systems (e.g. Nuance PowerScribe, Nuance Powershare, PACS, and EMR).
  • Three or more years of experience working with clinical information systems, PACS, and digital imaging equipment.
  • CIIP certification upon hire or needs to be obtained within a 24-month period from start date.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of all imaging information systems, electronic patient record, hardware, interfaces, HL7 and DICOM standards. 
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication, problem-solving, training, project management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to plan, direct and monitor projects and achievement of goals.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands.
  • Work effectively with a diverse group of people both within and outside of the organization.
  • Accuracy, follow-through, and attention to detail is essential.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology, information technology, or other healthcare related discipline.
  • Active involvement in professional associations (ARRT, SIIM, ABII).
