About the Indiana Office of Technology (IOT):
The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.
Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $61,022. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
Role Overview:
The Systems Administrator Intermediate on the Web and Application Support Services Team focuses on specific technologies that help protect and defend the State's valuable data assets and applications. You should understand, and have between 2-3 years of experience in, several of the following areas: SSL certificate management, server administration, internal/external DNS management, web application firewalls, BOT management, proxy management, load balancing (F5 BIGIP), secrets management, endpoint privilege management, device discovery, and application dependency mapping. You must demonstrate hands-on experience in these areas, combined with a basic understanding of modern IT security principles.
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Work with technologies such as Device42, Cloudflare, DNS and certificates, Big-IP (F5), Secret Server, and Privilege Manager (EPM) solutions.
- Configure websites in an F5/load balancer environment including the commissioning and decommissioning of websites, virtual servers, certificate management, SSL profile management, rules, content switching, geo-blocking, website logging, network firewall, security policies, and IP whitelisting.
- SSL certificate management, CSR creation, renewal, revocation, and application to F5/load balancing devices and associated backend servers utilizing automation, and manual processes.
- Administer internal and external DNS entries.
- Evaluate & implement WAF-managed rules and the research of false positives. Implement exceptions when validated.
- Test, debug, and document system software upgrades. May include some program design and coding.
- Schedule, install, and maintain software upgrades.
- Monitor and respond to technical issues and system alerts.
- Troubleshoot customer issues.
- Assist in researching and planning technology products, services, and resources.
- Develop and publish information technology knowledge base articles, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other job aids.
- Assist on customer projects and complete assigned work within established deadlines and SLAs.
- Conduct routine hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuring guidelines.
- Navigate ticketing and change-control systems for dealing with issues, requests, and scheduling operational efforts.
- Participate in production change management and control schedules.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours production support.

- Ability to evaluate and solve technical issues effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to communicate complex information to technical and non-technical staff.
