What Success Looks Like In This Job
The mission of the District Attorney's Office is to keep the community safe and to make the criminal justice system better through the fair and ethical prosecution of criminal offenders, while seeking justice for victims of crime.
The District Attorney's Office seeks a Systems Administrator to join its Information Technology (IT) unit to advance the mission of the DA's Office. A range of experience for this vacancy will be considered and a candidate's qualifications will determine the level at which they are hired.
Systems Administrator I: assist in the technical design, planning, implementation, and performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems. Recommends the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications. Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. Identifies methods and solutions and provides project leadership and management to give a high level of service to the customers of the department. The Systems Administrator I is also responsible for storage technologies and ensures the integrity of compute related data and case data. The Systems Administrator I will assist in the design, architecture, and configuration of our storage ecosystem.
The Systems Administrator II-III: assist in the technical design, planning, implementation, and performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems. Serves as a technical expert in system administration for complex operating systems. Recommends the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications. Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. Identifies methods and solutions and provides project leadership and management to provide a high level of service to the customers of the department. The Systems Administrator II-III will also assist in the design of our storage technologies and ensures the integrity of our compute related data and case data. The Systems Administrator II-III recommends the design, architecture, and configuration of our storage ecosystem.
The District Attorney's Office has elected to consider a range of experience for this vacancy. A candidate's qualifications will determine the level at which they are hired.
Systems Administrator I: $75,154.75 - $108,974.39 (Annually)
Systems Administrator II: $79,664.03 - $115,512.85 (Annually)
Systems Administrator III: $84,443.88 - $122,443.62 (Annually)
Examples of Duties for Success
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES FOR SUCCESS:
Cloud
  • Experience with Azure Active Directory and Hybrid AD Join
  • Experience with Office 365 and Admin experience with Exchange, Sharepoint, Teams, Endpoint Manager, etc
  • Experience in Azure Cloud or AWS Cloud with the ability to setup an Azure Virtual Private Network or AWS Virtual Private Cloud

Infrastructure
  • Manages the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software, and equipment.
  • Expertise in the design, implementation, and management of compute virtualization technologies.
  • Performs troubleshooting as required; leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
  • Creates and administers file, print, and application shares on the server platforms.
  • Ensures infrastructure is patched and up to date.

Storage
  • Responsible for planning, forecasting, engineering, implementing, and administration of the storage infrastructure ecosystem.
  • Ensures the storage integrity of both our hosted virtual servers and case evidence.
  • Ensures storage is patched and up to date.
  • Provides regular reporting that forecasts capacity needs.
  • Owns and can demonstrate the backup and recovery process.

Network/Security
  • Maintains computer networks and systems including software, VPN, routers, switches, and wifi infrastructure.
  • Updating virus protection software to keep data and communications protected.
  • Maintains ongoing awareness of information security, vulnerabilities, and threats and acts upon if required.
  • Ensures Network hardware and software is patched and up to date.

Additional duties
  • Mentors and provides training to PC technicians in the IT department
  • Leads projects related to infrastructure, storage, network, and security.
  • Documents and maintains the architecture of infrastructure, storage, and networking.
  • Addressed technical debt by routinely patching infrastructure, storage, and network hardware and software.
  • Monitors and alerts on the availability of infrastructure, storage, and networking.
  • Support the District Attorney's mission through customer service, integrity, and innovation.
  • Rotating on-call coverage for after-hours emergency issues and maintenance.

To be successful, our ideal candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Strong computer and troubleshooting skills using Windows-based operating systems and Office products; VMware, Dell EMC, Cisco, HP GreenLake, and HP Simplivity technologies.
  • Computer skills: Windows Operating Systems (OS); Microsoft Office products; Android and iOS platforms; Active Directory; local and network-based printing; wired and wireless networking
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Effective Customer Service
  • Strong Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated and organized; able to prioritize and execute tasks under direct supervision.

Qualifications for Success
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years verifiable experience. Additionally, 2-5 years of experience working with Azure or AWS.
  • Education and Training: Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology field or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered; Experience in criminal justice field is preferred, but not required.
  • License or Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal (CBI) background check.
  • Ability to travel to other facilities as required within the scope of the job.
Physical
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Requires long periods of sitting at a desk, up to 8 hours a day.
  • Repeated movements including standing, sitting, kneeling, lifting, and bending in and around desks, server rooms, and data centers.
