The Senior Systems Administrator position resides on the Infrastructure team at CableLabs. This team coordinates the delivery of services among all our organizations and manages all information technology that is purchased or produced within the company. Our team plays a crucial role in delivering services that are consistent and timely while maintaining a high level of security.

The position is custom-made for an individual who is experienced with implementing and managing several aspects of a datacenter infrastructure. The focus of this role is on maintaining the reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness of the managed environments.

You will work closely with the rest of the IT team to establish standards and consistency to help provide the services necessary for not only the CableLabs business partners but for the research and testing teams as well.

What You’ll Do

• Manage and maintain the following:
  • Organization’s virtualization platforms
  • Storage infrastructures
  • Backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Windows server environment, including installation, patching and security monitoring.
• Collaborate with the Lead Network Engineer to create and implement policies and procedures to ensure the security and reliability of the IT infrastructure
• Provides technical support and resolution of issues relating to virtualization infrastructure, Windows servers, and storage environments
• Mentor and educate other members of the IT team for cross functional support
• Other duties as assigned

What Is a Must Have

• 8+ years of Active Directory/Windows Server implementation and management experience
• Expertise in implementing and managing on-prem virtualization environments
• Solid understanding of storage infrastructure (fibre channel and SAN devices)
• Experience managing backup and restore/disaster recovery environments
• Sufficient network understanding and experience to assist with DNS and DHCP management
• Ability to multi-task activities with shifting priorities

What Will Set You Apart

• Certifications within applicable domains (MCSA, VCP, VCAP, VMCE)
• Experience with cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) management and/or security.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner.
• Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
• Extensive troubleshooting or helpdesk experience
• Experience with multiple operating systems

Compensation: The salary range is $113,375 - $138,625. This position is eligible for bonus incentive compensation up to 20% of base salary.

Working conditions and physical requirements

This position will operate in a professional office environment and a lab environment, this position requires travel up to 10% of the time. May be required to lift, move and transport related laboratory equipment up to 50lbs.
