Position Summary
The Systems Administrator is a crucial role in managing, maintaining, and securing RFTA's computer systems, networks, servers, and associated hardware and software. Their primary role
you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of our systems, including virtualization and Active Directory components, while also managing group policies, application delivery, patching, vulnerability remediation, and adhering to ITIL best practices to facilitate seamless and efficient day-to-day operations.
Essential Job Duties
- Systems Maintenance and Monitoring: Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure the reliability and security of transportation systems. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Server Administration and Virtualization: Manage and maintain servers running various operating systems, including Windows and Linux, leveraging virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V. Implement and manage virtual environments to enhance resource utilization and scalability.
- Active Directory Management and Group Policy: Administer and maintain the Active Directory infrastructure, including user accounts, group policies, and domain services. Utilize Group Policy Management to enforce security policies, software deployment, and system configurations.
- Application Delivery: Implement and manage application delivery solutions to ensure reliable and efficient access to critical transportation applications. Collaborate with application developers and vendors to optimize application performance.
- Patching and Vulnerability Remediation: Develop and execute patch management strategies to keep systems UpToDate and secure. Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and remediate identified vulnerabilities promptly.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and execute backup and recovery plans to safeguard critical transportation data and ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster.
- ITIL Best Practices: Apply ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) best practices for incident management, change management, and service delivery. Collaborate with IT teams to ensure alignment with ITIL processes and standards.
- User Support and Training: Provide technical support to end users, addressing hardware and software issues related to transportation systems. Conduct training sessions to educate staff on best practices and ensure efficient utilization of IT resources.
- Security Compliance: Implement and enforce security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive transportation data and comply with industry regulations. Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross functional teams to implement IT solutions that enhance transportation operations. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates on system status.
- Office 365, Microsoft Exchange, and Azure Administration: Manage and administer Office 365 services, including user provisioning, licensing, and security settings. Oversee Microsoft Exchange administration, handling tasks such as mailbox management and troubleshooting email-related issues. Demonstrate proficiency in Azure administration, integrating on-premises Active Directory with Azure AD, and ensuring security considerations in a hybrid environment.

Education
High School Diploma required, a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field preferred.
Experience
3-5 years' experience as a Systems Administrator, or similar position, required.
