We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Surgery Scheduler and Coordinator for our Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) clinic. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently managing the surgical scheduling process, obtaining pre-certifications, and coordinating payment arrangements. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical procedures, and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Surgical Scheduling:
- Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures for patients in consultation with physicians and surgeons.
- Ensure timely and accurate scheduling, taking into consideration the availability of operating rooms, surgical staff, and equipment.
- Pre-Certifications:
- Obtain pre-certifications and authorizations from insurance providers for surgical procedures.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and communicate with insurance companies to ensure smooth pre-certification processes.
- Payment Arrangements:
- Work with patients to explain surgical costs, insurance coverage, and payment options.
- Coordinate payment arrangements, set up payment plans, and provide financial counseling when necessary.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of surgical schedules, pre-certifications, and payment arrangements.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Communication:
- Liaise between patients, physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate effective communication.
- Address patient inquiries regarding surgical schedules, pre-certifications, and payment-related matters.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the administrative and medical staff to optimize the surgical scheduling process.
- Participate in meetings to discuss scheduling priorities and address any challenges.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the development and implementation of efficient scheduling and payment practices.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration or related field is a plus.
- Proven experience in medical office administration, surgical scheduling, or similar roles.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance pre-certification processes, and payment arrangements.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
