The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a clinical science department within the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The primary functions of the department are teaching obstetrics and gynecology to medical students, resident physicians, post graduate students, nurses and other allied health professionals; providing clinical service to the region; and supporting research activities.
Job Duties
ECU Brody School of Medicine's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking to hire a full-time Patient Access Representative who will serve as the Surgery Coordinator for the Brody Outpatient Center and ECU Women's Physicians. This position, working independently while multi-tasking and handling competing priorities, manages all aspects of incoming surgeries including patient registration, appointment scheduling and indexing records. The selected candidate will work, in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, to ensure the patient's needs and operational standards are met. The position will use excellent verbal and written communication to interact effectively and professionally by telephone and in person with faculty, staff, residents, students, patients and the general public.
CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.
The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as its teaching hospital, as well as the flagship hospital for ECU Health.
Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Disability.
Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
