The Surety Bond Business Analyst at Daimler Truck Insurance Agency is a pivotal role responsible for managing Surety Bond needs and serving as a liaison between customers and sales teams. Key tasks include gathering information, devising actionable business strategies, and collaborating on Surety business development. This highly visible position reports to the Insurance Agency Manager, involves continuous improvement, and plays a crucial part in the entire Surety development lifecycle. Legal and compliance adherence is paramount in ensuring tasks are executed per Daimler guidelines.
The Surety Bond Business Analyst must demonstrate holistic systems thinking, fostering collaborative environments through leadership, and facilitating workshops demonstrating business requirements. They will apply observational skills to evaluate data, communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and exhibit organizational prowess in handling vast information. They will need to be proficient in modeling requirements graphically, possess interpersonal skills for negotiating priorities, and creativity to propose innovative requirements. Additionally, they will need to be adept in finance and accounting, providing timely and fitting solutions as necessary.
The Surety Bond Business Analyst will learn areas of related Surety renewal processes internally and externally for existing and new Surety Bonds needs. Including but not limited to: Performance Bonds, Self Insured Workers Compensation bonds, bid bonds, Environmental bonds, Notary Bonds, etc.
This is a DTFS Band 92 position.

What You Drive at DTFS
- Serves as the conduit between the Surety needs of our customer community and the Sales and development teams through which the requirements flow.
- Gathers information necessary to create an actionable business strategy that is ready to go to market.
- Researches and analyzes the business environment, competitors, and customers to develop ideas for new products and services, pricing, and business models, specific to overall Surety needs.
- Assists with financial feasibility studies, proposal development, and negotiations for new business opportunities.
- Collaborates with marketing, sales, product development, and other stakeholders to support Surety business development plans.
- Responsible for identifying, developing, and closing Surety business for interna Daimler customers, corporate clients, and dealers
- Interacts with internal/external clients in responding to their specific bond needs, i.e, contract documents, bond forms, rating, and billing questions.
- Interacts with Surety company representatives in handling transactional related information/issues in the administration of the bond programs of our internal/external clients, i.e, premium billings, rating issues, contract documents, bond forms, bid results, etc.
Knowledge You Should Bring
- High School Diploma
- 5+ years of related experience
- 2+ years of experience working with Surety Bonds
- Insurance License in the State of South Carolina
- Proven track record of strategically producing results
- A background with increasing levels of responsibility in Surety is required
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Etc.)
- Strong analytical capabilities using database query tools and MS Excel and/or Salesforce
- Strong critical thinking, time management and prioritization skills
- Ability to multi-task and handle highly confidential information
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and dependability
- Willingness/confidence to manage projects independently or in a group and ability to follow through
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
- Bachelor's Degree in General Business, Data Science, Analytics, Statistics or related
- Experience in the risk management, specifically the Risk Management Insurance Services (RMIS) database
