Position Overview
The Laboratory Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring seamless functioning of laboratory operations by supporting ongoing laboratory initiatives, training, compliance, data analysis, and growth initiatives. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and leveraging laboratory expertise with a goal of streamlining and enhancing daily Laboratory Business operations and efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties that are assigned.
- Conducting quantitative audits of laboratory and patient records to ensure compliance with the Crossroads Treatment Centers compliance programs, CLIA regulations, and state and federal requirements. Such audits shall require the independent and professional judgement of the Laboratory Operations Specialist related to numerous components of the audit tools.
- Develop comprehensive training programs on various laboratory procedures, encompassing risk assessment completion, requisitioning, and Point of Care (POC) testing.
- Conduct training sessions to ensure that staff are proficient in laboratory procedures, emphasizing competency and compliance.
- Perform data mining to identify utilization trends, training needs, leakage opportunities, and volume discrepancies.
- Analyze collected data to formulate strategies for enhancing operational efficiency and quality improvement initiatives.
- Oversee laboratory improvement projects including lab expansion, optimization initiatives, and compliance assessments across both center-based and full-scale laboratory environments.
- Take an active role in laboratory growth initiatives on by providing support, guidance, and coordinating efforts among various teams and departments.
- Provide support and guidance to field inquiries related to the EMR, LIS, result integration, and other lower-level IT laboratory inquiries.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices within laboratory operations.
- This position requires periodic travel to lab locations and patient centers.

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelors' degree in a scientific field, such as chemical, biological, lab or lab adjacent fields
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret human service periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, mean, mode and median ability to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

The employee occasionally lifts/carries paperwork, files, office supplies, up to 30 lbs., pushes/pulls exerting up to 5-10 lbs. force, opening doors, file drawers, pushing files in drawers, and kneeling/crouching and/or ability to reach lower file drawers, file stretching to store of retrieve materials. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Frequent sitting at desk or computer while typing, completing paperwork, or meeting with patients.

Day in the Life of a Laboratory Business Analyst

- 1-2 years' experience in laboratory setting
