MISSION:
It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthen families, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.
JOB PURPOSE:
Under the supervision of the Supply Manager II, will serve as the warehouse assistant for all supply aspects of the Central Warehouse while being responsible for the receiving, distribution, storing, and inventory of all supplies necessary for proper operations of the agency. Assist in the proper disposition of excess property goods, as needed. Will assist other supply managers with these duties. Will periodically assist in the supervision of the SCDC inmate work crew.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Verifies all incoming shipments are accurate by comparing the shipping documentation to the purchase order and ensuring that all goods are in acceptable condition.
Reports any discrepancies to the Supply Manager II.
Reliably retrieve items from within the warehouse per the Good Issue to be processed and shipped.
Properly pack items to be shipped according to company standards to ensure they arrive in the proper condition.
Maintains accurate documentation for all inventory goods receipts and goods issues
Accurately maintains warehouse spreadsheet for non-inventory items. Identifies any items that may need to be restocked.
Monitors and reports any missing, lost, or damaged inventory to Supply Manager II.
Assists with year-end physical inventory and periodic test counts.
Organizes inventory within the warehouse by properly unboxing and storing goods in their designated location.
Organizes and sorts items into the proper shelving and bins in accordance with all agency and safety standards.
Ensures that the warehouse area is clean and free of any possible hazards.
Ensure that all warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand carts, are in good working order.
Reports necessary equipment issues to the Supply Manager II.
Performs other duties suggested and/or required by management.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements :
A high school diploma and work experience directly related to the area of employment. A valid state-issued driver's license.
Additional Requirements:
Must have a general knowledge of warehouse supply and inventory control practices and procedures.
Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs. consistently.
Must have professional forklift certification or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
Must be able to prioritize assignments and complete tasks on a strict timeline.
Be able to communicate effectively and act as a team player.
Should have some knowledge of Windows Software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Routine travel throughout the state is possible.
This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct or indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.

I will provide a written report confidentially to the Office of Human Resources Director, and a copy to my Executive Manager (Chief of Staff, Deputy Director, Associate Deputy Director, Inspector General) of all arrests, convictions, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and loss of SC Driver's License within 72 hours of their occurrence. Minor traffic violations need not be reported. Convictions such as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs are serious violations and therefore must be reported.
