Responsibilities
The incumbent manages and coordinates the operations of the Administrative Office as well as provides
project planning and support to the Mercy General Hospital (MGH) President in a manner consistent
with the Mission and Philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy.
1.2 Have a full working knowledge of the functions of all major aspects of the corporation. Support organizational changes
that occur in business development, restructuring, and cost containment. Oversee the operational functions of the
Administrative Office including contribution to the overall effective operation of the hospital.
1.4 Monitor department productivity numbers and adjust staffing accordingly.
1.5 Manage departmental human resources in compliance to hospital policies. Provide for departmental staff recruitment,
hiring, orientation, on the job training, counseling/discipline, performance evaluation, and terminations according to
Human Resources policies.
1.6 Serve as back-up for recording secretary to the Sacramento Community Board. Utilize management capabilities to
arrange meeting dates, develop agendas, compose board minutes, maintain board files, and all other aspects as
determined by executive management, the board of directors, and legal counsel. Handle all assignments given by the
Chairman of the board in an efficient and confidential manner.
1.7 Develop and maintain personal and departmental positive guest relations with hospital departments, the medical staff,
volunteers, and MGH patients/visitors. Comply with the hospital wide policies. Fully support the hospital wide
Performance Improvement plan.
1.9 Plan and set priorities, and develop procedures or courses of action to achieve goals. Exercise research techniques to
aid in developing reports and documentation for projects. Express ideas clearly in writing through correct grammatical
and verbal skills.
1.10 Ensure effective secretarial and executive assistance to the MGH President, and other members of the administrative
team.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree, specializing in
business administration, healthcare
management, or similar areas or
equivalent work experience. - 2 years 6 years - Experience as an office manager,
department manager, or administrative
assistant with line management and
budgetary responsibility. increasingly
responsible clerical experience, at least
four of which was in a secretarial position.
