Superintendent - Diving Operations & Marine Construction

The Superintendent develops, executes, manages, and coordinates project plans, dive plans, implementation schedules and resource estimates for marine and underwater construction projects as assigned. The Superintendent works under limited supervision and reports directly to company principals. The position requires travel across the Northeast United States on a project specific basis, although much of our work is local in Western New York. The Superintendent will work full-time while either at the company marine facility in Buffalo, NY or from remote job sites as routinely assigned or as directed to attend daily.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Directly supervise projects from mobilization through to demobilization and final reporting.

· Manage union trades and subcontractors to ensure the safe and successful completion of projects.

· Company liaison with clients, provide effective solutions for project related issues as needed.

· Develop detailed project plans identifying required material, equipment, and personnel.

· Communicate regularly with company principals and administration regarding the status of current project initiatives; obtain executive guidance and approval as required to advance initiatives.

· Provide expert advice and consultation on marine and underwater projects as requested.

· Must be well versed with and ensure compliance with applicable safety rules and regulations (governmental regulatory agency regulations, company dive manual, and company safety policies).

· Be in immediate control and available to implement emergency response procedures. Ensure Diving Operations are carried on from a suitable and safe location.

· Assign the duties of all members of the dive team and surface construction crew.

· Ensure that all personnel in the crew are qualified and physically able to perform tasks assigned.

· Report all accidents or incidents involving personnel as required by employer rules/protocol.

· Prepare and or assist with job quotes and proposals.

· Responsible for ensuring a profitable job including daily cost tracking and accountability of material, personnel, and subcontractor cost.

· Represent the company to various customers and entities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· 15 years of direct crew foreman/supervision experience working on marine & underwater construction projects is required.

· 5 years of documented experience as an acting Project Superintendent overseeing underwater construction projects is required.

· Must be experienced and skilled in directing divers and Marine Construction crews in the execution of duties.

· Must be skillful in problem solving, decision making, listening and negotiation.

· Must be experienced and proficient in the use of Flexifloat barges, vessels and marine cranes.

· Possess knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools.

· Possess skill in organization and establishing priorities.

· Possess sound verbal and written communication skills.

· Skillful in the use of personal computers and related software applications.

· Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

· Significant physical effort is required and exposure to physical risk is possible.

· Must be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.

· Must have valid driver’s license.

· Must be able and willing to travel nationwide on short notice for indefinite periods of time.

· It is preferred (not required) that the applicant is a graduate of an accredited commercial diving school.
