Position Summary:
The Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree program at the University of California, Irvine School of Law offers a first-rate legal education to lawyers, judges, government officials and others wishing to become educated about the legal system and practice of law in the United States. We offer a general LL.M. program that can be tailored to everyone’s interests, thus uniquely equipping students with the knowledge and skills to excel in today’s global legal community, whatever their personal and professional goals may be.
Applying advanced, specialized Student Services expertise, advises department / college / school or Graduate Division management, faculty, and students on the most complex student issues; and / or has programmatic responsibility for a complex student affairs function that usually has a discrete budget or budgets, has impact beyond the unit, and involves establishing strategic goals. Is expected to identify systemic problems and issues, and propose solutions to management.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $66,700.00 - $96,000.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $66,700.00 - $118,500.00 (Annual Salary).

Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree, plus 7+ years of experience in a higher education program providing support services to international students.
  • 7+ years of experience with international students, law school admissions, and financial aid.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and assessment practices with ability to determine high quality international student candidates eligible for admittance in law degree programs.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with proven ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks independently and simultaneously with superior attention to detail.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence, judgment, discretion, flexibility, and ability to work under pressure in a variety of cultural contexts.
  • Strong computer skills and database management experience with proficiency in UNITE CRM software.
  • Strong passion for working with and mentoring students from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds.
  • The ability to travel internationally.
  • Advanced LinkedIn knowledge.
  • Fluency in at least one other language besides English.
  • Advanced professional and/or legal writing experience.
  • Active CA Bar Licensure
  • Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
  • Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills.
  • Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations.

Preferred:
  • Advanced knowledge of complex visa and immigration policies, procedures and regulatory requirements for international students and scholars.
  • Ability in problem identification and reasoning; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, persuasion, leadership.
  • Skills in monitoring / assessing people, processes or services, to make improvements.
  • In-depth knowledge of the field's post-degree employment opportunities and practices.
  • Skills in project management, social perceptiveness to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
Special Conditions Required:
The need to work some nights and weekends as required. The ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
