To operate computer-controlled Co2 or fiber laser cutting machine to perform one or more functions. Operator must ensure proper production work flow using SigmaNest.
Position Responsibilities:
- Prioritize work and operate lasers efficiently
- Use programs including FMS Automation, HTX Mazak, STX Mazak, and/or Laserflex Automation
- Utilize SigmaNest nesting software to create tasks
- Create programs, load raw materials, and operate the lasers using the correct settings/conditions
- Managing various utilities including compressed air, nitrogen, power supplies, etc.
- Maintain machines – operation, periodic cleanings, maintenance and addressing breakdowns
- Use the Ventrac Network to manage the high volume of jobs going through this work cell
- Monitor the work cell via control panels, gauges, charts, alarms, inspection of operation, etc. to ensure it is operating properly and producing parts to VPI standards
- Strive for continuous improvement in operations of the work cell – including workflow, quality & speed of cut, scrap rates, etc.
- Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions/errors
- May include other fabrication duties
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum high school diploma, GED or equivalent school with relevant work experience
- Minimum 1-3 years of applicable work experience
- Must have a mechanical aptitude, strong analytical skills and strong computer skills
- Must be able to read and understand established procedures and detailed work instructions
- Experience of operating basic CNC machine controls/programming
- Ability to operate forklift and overhead hoist in a safe and orderly manner
- Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs. and stand, sit, squat or walk for extended periods of time
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years Operating Co2 Mazak and/or fiber lasers
- 2+ years Using SigmaNest or similar nesting software
- 2+ years using FMS Automation, HTX Mazak, STX Mazak, and/or Laserflex Automation
- 2+ years maintaining Co2 Mazak and/or fiber lasers
