***This is a Peace Officer Position. To be eligible, you must meet the minimum qualifications established by the Department of Human Resources AND either be currently eligible or eligible for reinstatement as a PC 830.2, California State Peace Officer.

The reporting location for this position is McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park in Burney, CA. The area of responsibility includes all units within the Cascade Sector including Ahjumawi Lava Springs SP, Castle Crags SP, Shasta SHP, and Weaverville Joss House SHP. This position will work under the general supervision of State Park Superintendent II.
The Cascade Sector provides four seasons of outstanding recreational opportunities in a beautiful natural setting. This position provides the full range of public safety and supervisory duties including emergency response, law enforcement, and revenue collection, visitor and resource protection, campground and boating operations, public safety, interpretation, administration, and volunteer management. Staff works closely with maintenance and interpretive staff, concessionaires and local law enforcement agencies and such as the Sheriff's Office, and CAL Fire. The Visitor Services program includes natural and cultural history interpretive programs, resource preservation, law enforcement, public safety, public relations, and volunteer management. This position requires self-motivation and the ability to work without direct supervision nearby. Come join a fun team of dedicated, passionate State Park employees.

Eligibility Information
To be appointed you must satisfy one of the following requirements:
- List Eligibility – Successfully complete the civil service exam for State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger). Click here more information on how to apply for the exam. NOTE: Please refer to the exam bulletin for the frequency of administration of this exam.
- Transfer Eligibility – Must have current employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).
- Reinstatement Eligibility – Previously obtained permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).
