The Senior Systems Development Manager is responsible for application Systems Development activities. They review, coordinate, and schedule Systems Development project requests and related departmental activities.
- Manages applications team consisting of both onshore and offshore resources to develop, support, maintain, and implement application systems to support business areas. Duties will include driving projects to meet business needs and deadlines.
- Develop plans for his/her group consistent with the development/maintenance planning cycle. Included in these responsibilities are project plans and specific annual objectives. Ensures deliverables are clearly defined and driven to completion by all teams that are accountable for project success.
- Provide group related input to the annual budgeting cycle with supporting detail and justification.
- Review summary project control information on a regular basis to assure that projects are on schedule and institutes corrective action when required. Interface with management on a regular basis to establish project priorities and to resolve Systems Development issues.
- Coordinates Information Systems functions with other areas including Computer Operations, Quality Assurance, Security, Information Technology, Auditing and User Management. Actively pursues improvements in system performance and efficiency outside of area of direct responsibility.
- Ensure the development of timely and well-designed products by promoting the selection and use proper development tools.
- This position has additional responsibilities. Special projects may be assigned at the position supervisor's discretion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Have a bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of IT/application Systems Development experience.
- Have 5+ years of experience leading/managing applications teams, consisting of project managers, technical leads, and developers.
- Have 5+ years of project manager experience.
- Have the ability to work with and communicate to project stake holders on project progression along with assisting in day-to-day business requests.
- Technical Experience Needed:
- Mainframe, Oracle, JAVA, and SQL
- Experience managing Offshore resources and working in distribution/supply change is a plus.
- Experience working in or supporting Finance, Customer, and Merchandising systems is a plus.
- Must have the ability to demonstrate leadership capabilities.
- Have at least 8 years of broad-based experience in specific and related disciplines, including supply chain management.
- Have at least 1 year of work experience in a formal leadership role within the applications development area (for example, project leader).
- Have knowledge of the state of the art in systems analysis, program analysis, and project management functions.
- Be able to travel as needed (estimated 5-10%).
