Role
Crown Castle is seeking experienced and motivated individuals as we build a next generation national network leveraging best in class tools and platforms to deliver high-capacity services to our customers.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in networking and automation technologies with the ability to apply them in a telecommunications service provider environment, focused on optimizing network operations and enhancing efficiency. In this role you will play a critical part in expanding and supporting Crown Castle’s IP/MPLS backbone network as well as designing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions that support our network infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Build and Grow the Network: Design and execute backbone network growth, reconfiguration, upgrade, and optimization projects, including commissioning of hardware and troubleshooting.
- Improve Efficiency: Integrate into our Network Engineering team to develop tools for deploying device configuration and automating maintenance
- Data analysis and reporting: Collect and analyze network data to generate actionable insights, helping the Network Engineering team make informed decisions. Support development of tooling to automate these activities.
- Understanding emerging technologies: Keep up to date with the latest advancements in automation and networking technologies to ensure our network and tools remains at the forefront of technology.
Expectations
REQUIRED
- Strong understanding of network technologies and protocols used at layers 2 and 3 including BGP, IS-IS, IPv6, OSPF and MPLS, Traffic Engineering, QinQ, G.8032, Y.1731, VPN technologies including VPLS, L2VPN, L3VPN, EVPN
- Scripting and automation experience using Python, XML, YANG/NETCONF, Ansible, YAML, GitHub/Gitlab.
- Experience managing full lifecycle of automation development including establishing requirements, testing/validation, documentation, production releases, regression testing, and feature enhancements in a multi-engineer environment.
- Ability to work in a UNIX/Linux system environment.
DESIRED
- Previous experience with scripting using Bash or Perl.
- Experience in working with or developing API’s.
- Experience working in a Service Provider environment using Juniper, Cisco and/or Nokia routing hardware.
- Basic familiarity with SD-WAN implementations.
Education/Certifications
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience/Minimum Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in telecommunications or equivalent related experience
- 4+ years in a service provider environment.

For New York, Colorado, California and Washington residents the hiring range offered for this position is $115,000- $137,000 annually. In addition to salary, employees are eligible for an annual bonus of up to 20% of annual salary and annual restricted stock. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 18 days of paid time off each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
