Job Summary

At Comcast, ‘The Customer Experience’ is our first priority. The Senior Network Security Engineer, is an IT Professional, responsible for the design, engineering, implementation, advanced operations, and maintenance, of the company’s security solutions. This opportunity will have a strong focus in network Visibility and Protection practices specific to the F5, Palo Alto, and Fortinet product suites. Advanced knowledge of the deployment architecture for these products will be core responsibilities. Must be able to understand Comcast’s various business entities and provide sound knowledge of security techniques, latest protocols and defenses against new threats, viruses and other attacks. The ideal candidate would possess a thorough understanding and knowledge of the network, operating systems, network equipment and networking protocols. The position will also be responsible for analyzing and troubleshooting performance issues, maintaining documentation, and mentoring other team members. The selected candidate would be working as part of a dynamic and fast paced team!

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership within a team responsible for architecting, engineering, operationalizing, and delivering secure connectivity, network-based visibility, and prevailing protections throughout the company’s network.
  • Responsible for working with the Network and Systems Engineers to create, maintain and enforce security policies effecting the network.
  • Responsible for securing all information and information systems assets of the Company network infrastructure.
  • Ensures implementation of security safeguards to the Company's IP network. Security safeguards should be in accordance with industry standards and business practices and Company security policies. Ensures Network and Systems Engineers follow security best practices when deploying/configuring software.
  • Collaborates with the Network Engineering and Operations teams to ensure disaster recovery plans are viable and current.
  • Works with the Network Operating Center to maintain up-to-date troubleshooting guides that pertain to security.
  • Must be able to provide architectural connectivity diagrams and supporting documentation.
  • Recommends policy for responding to security incidents along with a training program for those that might be involved.
  • Researches new and/or updated technologies as they come available that pertain to our environment.
  • Participates in regular penetration tests and vulnerability assessments.
  • Takes lead on security audits, both internal and external.
  • Helps ensure that customer SLAs are met at all times.
  • Responds quickly to critical severity situations.
  • Communicates regularly with development and supports teams regarding system status and implementation schedules.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Must be able to determine own work priorities.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Experience:

  • Knowledge of an Enterprise Network and the various cybersecurity technologies that are deployed to support the network.
  • Provide Senior level engineering technical support, operational procedures, and architecture of the company’s comprehensive visibility platforms, including Gigamon and nVidia, Fortinet and Palo Alto.
  • Proactively analyze and provide recommendations to optimize and utilize Comcast’s Network Security investments.
  • Must be able to professionally work with internal Comcast customers and provide a high level of communication and transparency.
  • Must be able to provide effective and meaningful operational and functional reports and metrics to management.
  • Escalate and manage issues to respective vendor support teams.
  • Cross train team members to educate and expand the visibility and protection technical expertise through informal workshops, coaching sessions, design review, and consumer use.
  • Operate inter-dependently with a diverse realm of personnel to draw expertise in problem-solving.
  • Maintain a sense of mission and focus on results that bring value to the customer.
  • Must have experience with Visibility and Protection technologies such as Fortinet and Palo Alto.  

Field of Study: Information Sciences Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Engineering or Sciences

Certifications: Relevant cyber security certifications, such as CISSP, CISM and/or PMP are highly desired

Years of Experience: Generally requires 7+ years related experience

Travel: Ability to travel within the Comcast geographic areas, primarily Philadelphia, PA and Moorestown, NJ
