The opportunity
The Portfolio Strategy Lead role in Innovative Medicines will shape future strategy for the company through landscape assessment and deep analysis of evolving trends/competition across the portfolio– articulating and synthesizing key trends and recommendations for senior leadership in order to support decision making.
This role will be a key interface with R&D, TGO, Business Development (BD), Commercial & Marketing teams in the assessment and prioritization of the entire Innovative Medicines R&D portfolio.
Specifically, this Portfolio Strategy lead will be responsible to:
⦁ Lead annual portfolio prioritization process for Innovative Medicines to align organization (R&D, BD , TGO & Commercial) in partnership with the TA Strategic Pipeline Lead (SPL).
⦁ Develop consistent methodology for prioritization of assets in the portfolio, examples likely to include:
⦁ Calibration of Probability of Technical and Regulatory Success (PTRS) across assets
⦁ R&D risks and opportunities
⦁ Unmet need and transformative potential of asset
⦁ Various financial metrics, e.g. peak sales, NPV, eNPV
⦁ Consolidate key metrics, through partnership with the relevant functional groups, e.g. Finance, Global Late Clinical Development (GLC) , Global Early Clinical Development (GEC) , Global Program Leadership (GPL) , to provide an integrated view of the portfolio with a consistent methodology.
⦁ Provide input to the Integrated Development Committee (IDC) on evaluating proposed requests against their impact on the overarching portfolio value and prioritization.
⦁ Provide input and guidance to Therapeutic Area Strategy Teams (TAST) led by the Strategic Pipeline Lead (SPL) to inform strategy development and pipeline evolution recommendations.
⦁ Support the SPL and TAST through portfolio scenario planning and decision making based on internal data, shifts in market dynamics and newly emerging risks
Travel Requirements:
Willingness and ability to routinely travel domestically and abroad.
Candidate will need to be onsite in West Chester, PA or Parsippany, NJ atleast two days a week, but can be flexible
How you’ll spend your day
- Works with cross-functional team in R&D, Commercial, Marketing & BD to support development of the Portfolio TA strategy
- Partners with SPLs & GPLs to ensure consistent and robust development of Innovative Medicines portfolio and assets within it to drive differentiation
- Supports Strategic Governance decision making through development of key metrics and insights
- Portfolio prioritization and scenario planning
- When needed, engages with relevant external stakeholders at the TA level
- Prepare executive level presentations and reports
- Stay in touch with external portfolio analysis trends
- Follows all Teva policies and procedures.
Your experience and qualifications
Required:
- MBA, Business Analyst
- Minimum of 7 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry in early and late-stage development pipeline, project & portfolio management
- Excellent strategic thinker
- Strong collaborator with the ability to partner effectively across multiple functions
- Established track record of effective and influential oral presentations with a close attention to detail
Preferred:
- Business analyst/combination of commercialization and scientific background
