The Senior Director, Global Commercial Lead, GU Early Development & Portfolio Planning reports to the Vice President, GU Commercial Strategy.  The Senior Director is responsible for owning & leading the commercial strategy for Early Development (ED) across Prostate and Bladder Cancer in partnership with the Bladder and Prostate Commercial Leaders and R&D DAS Leaders.  The role will contribute to a holistic GU ED strategy with a strategic framework, prioritization of internal and external landscape, and future landscape positioning. 

The role will contribute to optimizing the value of our global GU Early Development Portfolio through collaboration with key functions across the Global Commercial Strategy Organization (GCSO), J&J Research and Development (R&D), and J&J business regions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead insight generation for both Prostate and Bladder Cancer for future landscape assessment inclusive of internal pipeline and competitive landscape
  • Lead commercial strategy and prioritization of DAS focus areas with specificity of value opportunity, inclusive of first and best-in-class target product profile
  • Lead commercial strategy to develop portfolio optimization and positioning underscore the opportunity of unmet need, scientific rationale, and competitive value opportunity
  • Coordinate with business partners to ensure strategic alignment and execution:
  • Lead overall ED 3M efforts across key assets in the portfolio – to be defined at appropriate stage of development
  • R&D and Regulatory to bring commercial insight, develop/strengthen the Target Product Profile (TPP), and implement the broader vision for J&J’s leadership in GU portfolio
  • Key cross-functional partners (Analytics, Finance, Competitive Intelligence, etc.) to develop differentiating value proposition and commercial forecast valuation models.
  • Act as Business Development (BD) lead for GU for BD opportunities aligned to strategic framework for the DAS

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of business experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and/or relevant industry.
  • In-line pharmaceutical marketing experience with brand responsibility is required.
  • Market access, marketing support, or sales management/training experience implementing marketing strategy is required.
  • Must have a proven track record of exceptional team & cross functional leadership.
  • Strong leadership skills with a clear ability to demonstrate excellent collaboration, communication and strategic acumen skills. 
  • Ability to demonstrate strong leadership presence through influencing without authority with high-level management, detailed orientation, and excellent critical thinking.
  • Possess strong scientific and business acumen to create the alignment with critical cross-functional stakeholders. 
  • Possess a deep understanding of the disease states, current and future landscape, the actionable science, and overall knowledge of the marketplace. 
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills are required, as are the abilities to master complexity and to integrate insights into strategies
  • Have the ability to understand, interpret and communicate commercial and competitive implications of complex technical/clinical/medical/regulatory data. 
  • Demonstrated global mindset is required
  • A demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, cross-geography, with high-level managers and executives is required.
  • An ability to manage multiple demands and priorities on time and driving decision making is required. 
  • Strong executive verbal and written communication skills are required, along with demonstrated presentation skills.
  • Skilled in the Microsoft Office 365 platform (Incl PowerPoint, Word, Excel, OneNote and Teams)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in business or life sciences is preferred.
  • Launch experience and demonstrated ability to work with regional partners is preferred. 
  • Oncology experience is strongly preferred.
  • Prior global marketing and/or business development experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with R&D programs, managing strategic alliances, global market access and medical strategy is preferred.

This position is based in Raritan, NJ and will required up to 25% domestic and international travel.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $163,000 to $282,900.

The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States. Candidates hired outside the United States will be eligible for compensation and benefits in accordance with their local market.
