POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Executive Director and the Division Vice President, the Programs Director is responsible for providing Cause-Driven management and operations for all sports, rentals and family programing while also providing leadership and support to events. The Sports and Family Programs Director also assumes a leadership role in the annual support campaign. Day to day operations include staff supervision, fiscal control, program development, program area facility management/maintenance, marketing, and volunteer management, hiring, training, supervising and leading their staff team in superior levels of member service and engagement in accordance with the Association standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Division of Duties
70% supervision and management of Sports, Rentals and Family Programs
20% association, family center meetings, annual campaign
10% Annual Giving leadership and other special projects
PRIORITIES:
- Direct leadership of Sports, Rental and Family Programs
- Provides strong leadership and support for attaining association's goals and objectives
- Provides strong fiscal management in all areas of responsibility
Budget and Financial Performance
- Develops and manages the budgets related to the position
- Makes necessary purchases, inventories and deliveries of all program related supplies in accordance with association standards
Program Development and Membership Engagement
- Provides safe, organized, and quality sports and programs that serve the James L. Camp, Jr. Family YMCA community needs
- Plans, develops and implements sports and Family Programs
- Creates opportunities for members to form small communities and build meaningful relationships
- Provides leadership, plan and execute community-programming opportunities in the extended Franklin and Southampton County community
- Plans, markets and executes quality programs to serve more kids, teens, adults and families
- Develops, produces and distributes program information necessary to promote assigned programs, in accordance with branch marketing plans
- Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development, evaluations and ongoing training of staff
- Expands current sports, rentals and family program offerings with high quality service in accordance with the Association guidelines
Team Performance Towards Organizational Goals
- Provides strong leadership and support for attaining Association's goals and objectives of the strategic plan
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises sports team members
- Recruits and trains program volunteers
- Provides leadership and support for branch management team, annual support campaign, and volunteer committees/boards as assigned
- Performs the duties of direct reports as needed
Fund Raising
1. Assists and fosters a strong annual support campaign
2. Participates in a successful annual support campaign
Professional Development
- Completes New Staff Orientation and trainings as required
- Attends mandatory staff meetings and appropriate Department Cabinets
- Incorporates the five-character values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith and promote the YMCA Mission
- All other duties as assigned
Facility Management
- Ensures upkeep of related facilities and equipment
- Effectively coordinates facility usage for assigned programs and activities

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management/ Recreation/Health Sciences is preferred or equivalent
- At least 21 years or older
- 1 to 2 years supervisory experience
- Must be able to attain CD (commercial driver's license) within 6 months of hire
- Flexible Schedule, days, nights and weekends
- Able to Obtain American Safety and Health Institute BLS instructor within 90 days of hire
- Proficient computer skills with ability to learn new software programs
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Will be required to walk, stand, kneel, stoop, push, and lift up to 100 pounds
- While performing duties the employee may occasionally work in the outside weather conditions, and is exposed to wet, cold and /or humid conditions
- Continuous operations requiring attention to detail and multi-tasking
- Will be exposed to cleaning supplies
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Must be physically able to successfully complete required certifications
ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Accountable for completion of assigned goals as measured by the number of people served, cause driven measures, service satisfaction scores, operating results, and supervisor evaluation of assigned duties.
