Job Description
PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Director-Regional Laboratory role will oversee the operations of at least two 24-hour laboratories and their associated Stat laboratories, with responsibilities for revenue and profitability goals.

- Manage and support the activities in multiple diagnostic reference laboratories, with responsibility for achieving timeline for reporting results to clients, revenue, and profitability goals.
- Monitor and resolve client concerns, answer questions, and provide technical expertise when necessary.
- Assist in managing staff, assigning work, establishing performance metrics, monitoring activities, and evaluating performance.
- Leads the development of laboratory budget, policies, and procedures. Ensure production standards and laboratory goals are met.
- Ensure the quality of testing is being maintained under the guidance of the Quality Assurance department.
- Prepare and deliver regular general management business reviews to summarize laboratory financial performance, turnaround times, instrument downtimes, productivity, quality, and other performance metrics.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology/science (MT or MLT) preferred or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years general clinical laboratory supervisory experience in the areas of Chemistry, Hematology, Parasitology, Hematology, Coagulation, Serology and Urinalysis is preferred or the same 5 years’ experience managing multiple sites in a production-based environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience with laboratory operations, testing and services, including setting up, releasing, and resulting tests in addition to troubleshooting equipment.
- Experience in a high-volume environment managing workflows.
- Excellent customer service skills for client interactions.
TRAVEL:
- Percent of the time: ranges 30%-50%
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The associate is regularly required to apply manual dexterity, including hand/wrist flexibility, for computer keyboarding. The associate frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is frequently required to hear and speak to use the telephone, make presentations, and communicate with people in an office environment. The associate is occasionally required to sit and stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- The associate will primarily work in a typical office environment including the use of cubicles, computers, and overhead lighting. Temperature extremes will be minimal to nonexistent. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The associate will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, database management, email, and the Internet. The associate is frequently required to use a calculator; fax, copy machine, and phone system. The associate must occasionally use media equipment such as an overhead projector, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.
