Job Description


What’s the role?

Etsy is seeking a Social Content and Engagement Manager to lead content development and engagement across Etsy's social channels. In this role, you'll help to distinguish our social voice and copy across multiple channels and programs. This includes leading content development and execution on Etsy’s text-based channels, such as Threads, reflecting our brand in culture. You'll also develop and write copy for Etsy’s paid social creative, collaborating with our Social Video and Performance Marketing teams.

The Social Content and Engagement Manager will be responsible for expressing Etsy’s brand voice on social media in real-time, engaging directly with our passionate community of buyers, sellers and brand advocates.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Manager, Storytelling & Social Strategy and the base salary range will be 85,000 - 110,000 USD per year. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office.   • We tell Etsy’s story on social media by creating content experiences that showcase Etsy’s buyer and seller community and the items that bring them together, reminding the world how Etsy keeps commerce human.

What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Leading content strategy and creative execution on Etsy’s text-based social media channels, including Threads

  • Writing engaging copy for paid social creative and campaigns, tailored specifically to platforms, audiences and paid formats

  • Finding thoughtful, socially relevant ways for us to speak to our buyer and seller community

  • Identifying and pitching timely and unique ways for Etsy to engage directly with our community on social in ways that drive buzz and authentically express our brand voice and values

  • Evolving and clarifying Etsy’s voice and tone across our social channels, working closely with Brand and Marketing Team partners to ensure alignment with Etsy brand strategy

  • Collaborating with channel leads across the Social Team to develop and implement a social copy style guide

  • Pitching and developing content ideas for multiple channels, including video, static images and copy

Qualifications


Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • 5+ years experience developing Social Content and copy for a large brand or publisher

  • Exceptional copywriting skills, with a proven track record of crafting engaging and shareable brand content

  • An in-depth understanding of the community dynamics and vernacular used on social - you’re deeply immersed in channels like TikTok, Threads and X

  • Spotting and acting on emerging social trends as well and expressing a genuine enthusiasm for driving conversation on and off brand channels

  • Adept at writing and expressing multiple voices, switching between fun and playful brand moments as well as serious ones

  • Deep knowledge of the social media landscape, possessing a keen awareness of the difference between successful consumer and brand content

  • A passion for supporting small businesses, creativity and craftsmanship


To be successful in this role, the Social Content and Engagement Manager will:

  • Deliver a robust calendar of quality Social Content for Threads and other text-based channels, aimed at driving Etsy brand advocacy and engagement

  • Be passionate about Social Content across channels to help us maintain an awareness of the conversation of the day and overall social environment

  • Ensure social copy for paid and organic content represents Etsy brand strategy and objectives while remaining native to channels and formats

  • Identify and pitch creative opportunities for Etsy to proactively engage with our followers and fans, both on and off our brand channels

  • Work closely with multiple teams and individuals across the organization

  • Able to balance multiple projects and priorities, while acting nimbly to support emerging trends and opportunities

  • The ability to work in our Brooklyn headquarters in a flex or office based mode.
